Capaldi to direct 'Veep'

Nice interview with Capaldi here:

Interesting comment at the end that he's going to be directing a few episodes of the next season of 'Veep'.

Now if we knew it's production schedule we might have the answer to the question of whether the next series of DW is going to be delayed or not...

Edit: I got the dates wrong originally; they shoot in the Autumn/Winter not the Spring. so nothing proven one way or the other.

Not how I was expecting Capaldi to be involved with Veep. TBH, I'd been hoping for him to reprise Malcolm Tucker. Capaldi has interests beyond acting, and I have wondered if he's found Doctor Who creatively stifling because he's not more actively involved in the storytelling.

Edit: Just had a quick Google and it seem like they usually start shooting in the Spring, a couple of months after shooting on the next series of DW should have begun.

Ruh-roh Raggy!

If there's anything to acknowledge, I imagine Moffat will acknowledge it when it's become unavoidable.

EDIT: Capaldi's quote is, "I'm about to direct a couple of episodes, does that count?" To me, that suggests something imminent, rather than something five or six months off. With a new showrunner and new sets (since HBO moved the series to Los Angeles from Baltimore), there may be an entirely different production schedule now than what the show had in the past.

Yes, I goofed on the dates. They shoot at the end of the year not in the Spring.

No worries. I figure Capaldi will go from the Christmas special to prepping for his Veep shoot, and he'll be done with directing Veep by the time he has to do promotion for the Christmas special.

Seconded on the desire to see him reprise Malcolm on Veep. Then again, who knows, maybe the directing gig could be a prelude to this.
