Capaldi 'hasn't decided' if he staying past Series 10 yet.

But, Chibnall's first year is supposed to follow on from Moffat's last year. The gap is the year leading up to Moffat's last year. Moffat's going to have a big marketing splash in the spring of 2017 for his relaunch.

I don't think it will. All they've got to promote is a new Companion who'll likely only be there for a year.

I agree with Capaldi on this. The BBC has been stupid when it comes to the regular production and broadcast of new episodes.

Oh, I think we probably all would agree with what he said but having a pop at your Employer in public is never a good idea. Unless you know you've got nothing to lose at this point.

Point taken. But, at least he was polite about it and suggesting that it would be in the best interests of the BBC. Probably most agree with him as well. All serve soften his comments.

PC is a highly success actor and anyway British actors regularly do this - it's not unusual or even particularly risky.

I really hope Capaldi stays, he's one of the best Doctors full stop IMO. It would be great if he stayed on for longer.

This is a Doctor that needs more time to tell his story- there's a lot to explore, thanks to having such a good actor in place.

It would be nice for this new Era to have an actor stay longer than the others.

The stories are generally clever and we'll made- I'd just like to see more "fun" with this particular Doctor.

So far Capaldi's main role has been wrapping up old storylines. Unfortunately, it took him two whole seasons to accomplish that. With the end of last season, however, all of those storylines are closed, and now he and the writers are free to open up whatever universe they want for him. I think it has the potential to be great, and I have a feeling I will be disappointed at the end of Season 10 if Capaldi decides to leave.

The "unfortunately" makes it sound a bit like it's Capaldi's fault that Moffat spent those two years on turning Clara into a character rather than a plot point (series 8) or revealing the aftermath of the anniversary special (series 9).

With the end of last season, however, all of those storylines are closed, and now he and the writers are free to open up whatever universe they want for him.

That's my hope, too, that Moffat's decision to close out his storylines because he intended to leave now gives him a blank canvas to work with.

I may feel the same way. I was gutted when Matt Smith left because I felt he had so much more to do with the role, that he'd only scratched the surface of his potential. It's possible I'll feel the same way about Capaldi if he leaves at the end of Moffat's tenure.

I'm not sure Moffat actually closed off anything. I mean, after all this time, we still don't know what the hell was 12 doing in the Day of the Doctor climax.

Hell Bent is the worst Doctor Who finale (or, if you want, second part of one) in the show's entire history. Simply terrible, with almost no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I thought Hell Bent was ok. Not great, it definitely had problems, but not too bad. I liked seeing Galifrey, and most of the scenes between The Doctor and the Timelords were cool. The Clara and Me stuff was kind of lame, but for Clara that's an improvement and for Me that's how it usually works out. The
erasing The Doctor's mind because he just can't resist being with Clara or whatever
and that whole section of the episode was horrible, but that's probably the only thing I hated. I didn't even mind Clara and Me's final fate, as long as they don't show back up I don't really care how they leave, as long as they leave.

Heaven Sent and the Christmas Special showed hints of Capaldi being an awesome doctor, but his scripts have been terrible for the most part. I hope he does stay on because he is a great actor and it will be like getting a fresh start and be able to really take the Doctor in a different direction under Chibnil.

I do agree with the Capaldi article, and if Capaldi does leave, there is really nothing to lose at this point.
