I doubt they'll go that route, due to the age difference between the actors, which is exacerbated by Coleman looking younger than she actually is.

That's coming from me and I'm still angry over the fact that Billie Piper is no longer on, that Tennant left, and that Elisabeth Sladen passed away. But I like Clara! Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS was a good one with her for me! And yeah I wouldn't mind a father daughter dynamic but wouldn't it be kinda odd considering he's technically regenerated from the younger Matt Smith. No matter how you skin the Doctor he's still...the Doctor.
Clara has saved the Doctor's life how many times now? She's a strong companion who should be close to the Doctor's equal. In fact, there may be a reversal of roles in the early part of the season. The Capaldi Doctor doesn't know how to work the TARDIS. We don't know yet what else he may have forgotten from his previous lives; he may have a lot to relearn, with Clara as his teacher.

I found that in 7B my opinion of Clara varied wildly between episodes. One week she'd be smug and full of hserself, the next week she'd be meek and mild, one week I'd really like her, the next I wouldn't. I think it was down to the writers not knowing quite how to deal with her given only Moffat knew the whole story about her. Jenna herself is lovely and charming, and I've liked Clara in both the Day and the Time of the Doctor, and I'm looking forward to her interactions with Capaldi.

I loved Amy, she wasn't like Rose and Martha in that although she had feelings for the Doctor she wasn't really interested in a relationship. Even when she tried to seduce him, it was more of attempting to find some wish-fulfillment, as he'd been such a huge part of her formative years, now he was here and available. Even she said "I wasn't really thinking long-term".
She was also flawed in that she was a hard person, biting psychiatrists because they didn't believe her about her "imaginary" friend. Alt-Amy in "The Girl Who Waited", and the ruthless way she dealt with Madam Kovarian in "Wedding of River Song" showing this hard side.
This hardness also led to a tendancy for her to hide her feelings, which came to a head before "Asylum of the Daleks" where rather than talk to Rory about the fact she cannot have children, she pushes him away so he can find someone else and become a father. People criticised that aspect, but you know what? It's realistic, people do stupid things rather than talk!
Then in "Angels Take Manhattan" she gave up the Doctor for Rory, something that may have been hard to imagine back in Series 5.
Clara may be attracted to the Doctor, but it appears that she knows there is no chance of any romantic possibilities, so she doesn't try to pursue it. She was the Impossible Girl, but is now a companion, and just as important as any other. She was the one who influenced the Doctor to try a risky plan to attemtp to save Gallifrey rather than burn it, who pursuaded the Timelords to give the Doctor a new regeneration cycle, although how much of that was because of her influence, or because the Timelords knew with the Doctor gone they were trapped forever remains to be seen!
I'm looking forward to seeing her with Calpadi, but am I the only one who is getting a possible The Doctor/Susan vibe from their possible interactions? If so the series really has gone full circle.

A couple of the publicity photos of the duo have seemed to be deliberately emulating images of the Third Doctor with Jo or Sarah.
^ There's also no denying the Coal Hill School teacher angle as well, especially if the rumors about the addition of the other regulars are true. So, not denying the emulation you mention with both poses and Capaldi's costume.
However, Moffat may be recreating the paternalistic/gruff vibe of both Hartnell and Pertwee? We haven't really had that in the new show.

I wouldn't mind an Ian-Barbara dynamic so long as Clara gets to be Ian.
I'm hoping that's just temporary post-regeneration amnesia. By the end of the first episode he'll probably be recovered and be able to work the TARDIS as well as Smith and Tennant. I like classic Who, but I don't want to see The Doctor unable to drive the TARDIS on a consistant basis at this point. I don't see him having any significant memory loss after the first episode anyway.
Its a plot for his first episode, but it might not even last 10 minutes, much less past the episode. Maybe the TARDIS will crash, then he'll recover from the amnesia and decide to explore wherever they landed, since they're already there. I'm betting that his post regeneration problems will probably take up a good deal of his first episode, but he'll recover just in time to save the day and continue adventuring with Clara.
It probably is just regeneration amnesia as it's been a really big change, even bigger than Ten fighting his regeneration tooth-and-nail.
Plus Eleven spent so long on that planet not piloting the TARDIS that he was probably rusty on what to do anyway. But I expect him to remember it soon.
10 had trouble using the TARDIS too on his first episode. It was a rocky landing. 
I don't view the question of "do you know how to fly this thing?" as the Doctor having amnesia and forgetting how to fly the TARDIS, but rather I think he knows some post-regenerative trouble is about to start preventing him from being able to fly the TARDIS, as he'll be doubled-over or passing out or something. So he's asking Clara if she can fly the TARDIS instead.
