Can't get ANY wikia page to load on my PC

They used to work just fine, but for the last couple of weeks , I can't get a single one to load. No Star Trek ones, no Indiana Jones, no Transformers, no Power Rangers, Star Wars, DC Comics, Marvel Comics....well, you get the idea.

Everytime I try, I get a blank white screen, and it says it's loading the page, but the page never comes up. And it's just wikia sites. Everything else works fine as usual, including wikipedia.

Anybody else have this problem? I've run virus scans, malware scans, spyware scans, I've erased cookies etc. Nothing works.

Can somebody please help me??? I LOVE my wikia sites, and I can't access them.

Do you have NoScript or a similar security addon installed in your browser? If so, you might have accidentally clicked "Forbid Wikia.com" and that's why you're getting the blank page. When I forbid it, it looks like this:



So not quite the total blank screen you describe, but maybe you have another security feature on your browser or PC that blocked it.

No it doesn't look like that. It's just a blank white page. Doesn't load anything.

How can I tell if I have something blocking it? I'm pretty sure I don't. Like I said, this was just out of the blue one day. Always worked fine before that.

Did you try a site like Down for Everyone or Just Me? I tried the Star Wars Wikia and it says it's just me (not even, since I had just visited it to check). This way, if it's a problem that's affecting multiple people (such as a denial of service attack), you can rest assured it's not just you.

Did you try it in more than one browser and/or on more than one computer?

I have been having problems with wikia pages as well, for months now.

The funny thing is, from this thread, and other forums I've been on, it is obviously NOT just me who is having this issue.

If you have two devices, like a smart phone or another computer, laptop or something, you could check if the problem is with your internet connection or your PC. I mean, connect both the devices to the connection directly and see if it still fails to work on both. That way you could rule out your PC as the source of the problem.

Other than that, I don't know, reinstall your operating system? Try a system restore point first, though?

Maybe it's because of the hurricane and it somehow disrupted the internet pathways between you and the server? Maybe your ISP blocked it for some reason? Dunno


Edit: Also there appear to be several methods of blocking sites directly through Windows, so maybe you should google that dependent on which OS you're using. Maybe someone made a prank on you or something.
