I am trying to save important documents. I keep getting an error message, can't copy files, please help

the jump drive is not full. i got half way through placing word docs and such on a jump drive. now I get the error "error copying file or folder" then it says "cannot copy "file". Directory cannot be created"
It's possible the file you are transferring is damaged or the HDD suffered some kind of physical damage on that sector that became corrupted.
Mind you it's only a possibility, nothing definitive.
I recommend restarting the OS and try to copy the file again.
If it doesn't work, then there's a possibility the hdd or the jump drive are damaged in some capacity.
I'd sooner think the file is corrupted.
Given you had a BSOD recently, it's possible your hdd suffered physical damage.

A jumop drive is a small device that attaches to USB for storage. As for the files, they are just Word files. I tested the smallest word file that could create, and I still couldn't move it to the jump drive
Open that word file (or files) and re-save them under a different name on a different location on the hard drive (or directly to the jump drive).
See if that helps.
Question: Is the directory deeply nested (ie is it a subdirectory within a sub directory, etc)?
There is a character name length limit for most path names, and if the files or the directory is deeply nested; you could be exceeding that limit when it copying stuff to the flash drive, and that's why it's telling you it can't/won't create the directory as it copies.

Can you copy to a different jump drive on the same pc?
Can you copy to the jump drive from a different pc?
Is this a work pc? Do they have a lockout of some kind preventing USB sticks from working?
Can you copy the file from one folder to another from within the operating system? That will tell you if the file is corrupted.
