"Canon" problem with the opening sequence of the new movie

Re: "Canon" problem with the opening sequence of the new mov

Yeah, this is a joke thread, but Polaris DOES have a point...

...What Would Star WARS be without the 20th century Fox Logo and fanfare that segways SOOOO well into John Williams' Star Wars theme? In fact, sometimes when I hear that 20th Century Fox fanfare for OTHER films, I'm half expecting to hear the Star Wars theme proceeding it.

I'd say the same is true for Star Trek, albeit to a lesser extent. To some small degree, I sometimes equate that Paramount logo with the beginning of a Star Trek film.

To tell the truth, this was an issue beneath my notice until Starship Polaris of all people brought it to my attention.

My thought on the Robot thing, and I can't believe I even have to talk about this, was "Okay, this is JJ Abram's stamp so we know this is a JJ Abrams film, good."

Some people have no sense of humor:(

Don't get me wrong, the thread is mildly amusing in more ways than one.

If you squint, you'll see that a tiny Shatner is climbing it.

To be serious, I do find the robot thing a bit cheesy.

It's more the kind of production logo you'd expect to see attached to some flash-animated Adult-Swim cartoon like Aqua-Teen Hunger Force or something.

I'm betting that the Paramount suits are giddy about the Bad Robot logo. They are hoping and praying that those few seconds of film will convey to the audience, "Look! This old dinosaur is about to become hip and cool!"

Sort of like how Cadillac shareholders probably felt when rappers started buying Escalades.
