Can you cast guest actors for 1970's ST phase 2?

Why do I automatically think of quilted yoke or shoulder are when I imagine a 70s sci-fi jumpsuit uni? There were so many with a white, molded, modular set design look including TMP. 1999, Buck Rogers, Space Academy (sigh), SW on the blockade runner, Logan's Run, etc. In that look I just expect Wilma and Buck costuming. WITH obligatory 70s hair.

I wonder if I'm remembering an actual uni or just conflating them all into one. Maybe original Battlestar Galactica too. I'd gphave to spend time I don't have looking on Google Image to find actual suit pics. How abot Kirk in a white jumpsuit with padded yoke? Or is that retinas-on-fire territory? Shat was in good shape in 79!

As for casting in Phase II, if the show was on NBC, then you'd almost certainly see a lot of actors who appeared on that network's shows at the time. NBC was notorious for cross-pollination of their shows.

Ok, I'll give this a try, though I couldn't find a script online, just a detailed plot for what would have been the first of two episodes (http://pages.videotron.com/startrk/story/phase2/kitumba1.html). I'll try to cast in a general way, though reading each character's dialogue would make it simpler...That said, here we go:

Ksia is a Klingon warrior who "defects" to the Federation not because he believes the feds are right, but that the Klingon empire isn't ready for at that moment for the war Malkthon is planning. Think the noble samurai.

(1) Carl Weathers, if Ksia is a more physically intimidating type of character.
(2) John Saxon, for presence and the noble warrior image.
(3) Martin Landau, for his greater acting ability, and mentor image.

The Kitumba is the young ceremonial leader of the Klingons who lives on the Sacred Planet where no weapons are allowed. He's proud, rather naive, and doesn't understand the human's revulsion to ritual suicide to regain honor and other realities of life in the Klingon empire.

Reaching a bit here, but I would go for Patrick Swayze (though in 1978 he was a dancer only and a few months away from his first feature job, Skatetown U.S.A.). But only if Swayze at 26 had the intensity of POINT BREAK Swayze.
(2) And from out of left field, Robby Benson (often cast as innocent teens, out of his depth, but his vocal performance as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast showed he has a lot of teeth as an actor...

Malkthron is an ambitious warrior and political leader who plots against the Kitumba and plans to replace him with his even younger brother who can be easily controlled.

I'd really need to read Malkthon's dialogue to get a better handle on him, but here goes:
(1) Dennis Franz (has played sleazy in many DePalma films, and NYPD Blue often displayed his intensity).
(2) Donald Pleasance (awesome british actor, totally undervalued in the 70's)...
(3) Roy Scheider (probably too expensive for a tv show budget, but DAMN this guy was good!)
(4) Martin Balsam (love this guy!)

Baru Taru is Malkthon's deputy whom (as I recall) isn't as quick to reject tradition for political expediency.

(1) Barbara Bain, always pretty badass, my choice if acting is more required.
(2) Pam Grier, even more badass! my choice if buttkicking is required, and if Kirk puts the mack on Baru Taru

I like the Kitumba premise and think it better suits them that what we got from TNG. A shame TNG didn't use this.

I might have hoped that they would have at least had a cameo from John Colicos or William Campbell or Michael Ansara for at least one of those roles (and suitably renamed the character). Kor instead of Malkthon? Kang instead of Kali?
