Camelot - reimagining King Arthur in a police procedural

Skipper

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
From Hollywood Reporter:

When an ancient magic reawakens in modern-day Manhattan, a graffiti artist named Art must team with his best friend Lance and his ex, Gwen — an idealistic cop — in order to realize his destiny and fight back against the evil forces that threaten the city.

I predict that in the future every TV show will be a procedural. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

NBC was offered The Walking Dead before AMC.
They wanted that show to be a police procedural as well.
Network executives have never been very bright when it comes to anything creative.
Nor are they very brave when it comes to choosing new programing

And just to clarify, NBC wanted The Walking Dead to be a police procedural without zombies.

Sleepy Hollow -- Ichabod Crane in modern times as a police procedural
Second Chance -- modernized Frankenstein as a police procedural
Lucifer -- Satan walks the earth in modern times as a police procedural
New Amsterdam -- an immortal who has lived for centuries is now a cop today

I wonder how this idea could have possibly come about?

I can see it now. Morgana as the big bad crime boss, Mordred her chief enforcer. Merlin the hard nosed police commander secretly casting spells to aid our heroes. Just cast Tom Mison as Arthur and Nicole Beharie as Gwen. Ratings Gold.

Eh, networks gonna procedural. To me, the most annoying thing about this news (which isn't saying much, as I don't actually care) is that it's yet another NYC show. There are other cities out there besides NYC and LA, TV!

I'm surprised that Star Trek: Discovery isn't a procedural

Or...

There is something that we don't know...? :shifty:

Was Constantine a police procedural as well?
Well, isn't virtually every superhero tv show a procedural? There is a crime, you have to investigate and then to catch the crime perpetrator.

Tv superheroes are like cops. Movie superheroes are like firefighters.

It's more like vampires/zombies are the new police. Everything being a procedural goes back to before the vampire and zombie crazes.
Yep.

Knight Rider
They created a real Artificial Intelligence and an armor that can protect you from everything short of a nuclear explosion.
They use them to... fight crime!

Automan

They created a sentient hologram that can materialize cars and helicopters out of thin air.
They use him to... fight crime!

Manimal

He has discovered the secret that allows him to transform into any animal ...
He uses his power to... fight crime!

The Power of Mattew Star
They are the representatives of an alien race, the living proof of the existence of other life forms. They have incredible powers.
And they... fight crime!

Really, every of these tv shows have a world-chancing sci-fi/fantasy premise. And the best use of it? They take care of some mob boss, uncover an illegal gamble ring and save from speculators some young single mom's farm.
