Calling all audio geeks? (subwoofer placement)

I managed to get a decent home theater setup during the week for very, very cheap. Problem is, I don't want to move my existing sub in the left corner of the room, and the new sub has its' port to the right - which sounds like it's ideal for the right corner of the room, but I just got fiber internet on, which means having this monstrosity:

It's pretty secure on the wall, but it's plastic. If I were to place my sub near it, I'd get a lot of rattling, wouldn't I? The metal grill on my heater rattles with the old sub, and that's a good couple of feet from it - in spring and summer I usually take it off.

I need more information.

You have the old sub set up so it is in the left corner in front of you or behind? Would the new sub go in the right corner on the same end of the room? Is their a reason why the two subs could not be set up in corners that are diagonal to each other?

Conventional wisdom: The placement of subwoofers does not matter, since deep bass sounds are "omnidirectional".

Truth: That isn't entirely true - place your sub a full 60 feet or more from your speakers and you'll definitely be able to tell. But for what you're talking about here, placing the second sub in the middle of that wall, or in the opposite corner, or even in the middle of the room if you've got a place there, shouldn't matter worth noting.
