Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack announced!

"You just killed 10 guys in a row. Here's a bonus that lets you kill another 10 guys in a row to get yet another bonus!" It just gets old if you're on the losing end of that gameplay mechanic.

Yeah, that just doesn't happen. Assuming you're able to kill 3 people without dying, you get a recon plane, which is great as long as everyone on the opposite team doesn't have camoflage enabled - but really, it only tells you where people are. It doesn't help you kill them. Then let's say you kill 5 without dying, you get artillery, which rarely kills more that 3-4 people even if you place it well. Then, you kill 7 people without dying, and you get dogs, which, fair enough, can yeild a fair few kills, but it's hardly a game breaker.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I do find the artillery annoying. I've always hated explosion spam on CoD, it's my least favourite thing about the game series, and the artillery and multi-frag perks just make that worse.

Map Pack #2 has been announced today. Due sometime next month, it features 3 new MP maps, as well as a new Nazi Zombies add-on that has Imperial Japanese zombies and hellhounds. The pack will also include 10 new achievements/trophies.

They intend to release in June. And they are including a new gun for the new zombie map-something called a DG-2. I should be on or near my Tenth prestige by then. Hopefully, taking advantage of all of the returning, rusty players who are just there to try the new maps will put me over the top.

Just re-read the earlier posts. Broken? WTF? It's a great game. "have to break out your sniper" ? I don't even carry one. It's never an issue, either. How would multi-frag perks make the number of explosions worse? It's a pair of grenades-good luck disrupting the game balance with 2 little booms. Practically the only grenades that kill me are the ones that hit me directly on the head. Anything else you can run away from, most times. I do concede that Core is flawed-but HardCore is some amazing gameplay.

the new map packs are opressive, because EVERY game type uses them...and frequently, and I don't have the $20 to drop on them

$20? Who you paying for the maps? They only cost $10US.
I think he's talking about both of them, most likely assuming that the second map pack will also be commonly used in all game types like the first.

I sort of agree with Sephiroth, I have at least $60 in spacebucks but I $10 map packs seem like such rip offs when I can go play Team Fortress 2 with all those free updates. I just don't find myself willing to buy content anymore, especially when it's so expensive.

The only content I've seen that actually seems worth paying for (besides thing like full expansion packs of course, but even then Epic gave away a free expansion pack to Unreal Tournament 3) is tracks from music games since they have to license those, but I don't even like Rock Band enough to actually buy tracks.

Valve gets it. Epic (at least on the PC side) gets it. It seems like most developers and publishers don't. Give away the content for free. It builds up the game's community, generates lots of good will, makes the game seem like an even better value, and will bring in lots of publicity for the game (most likely getting people to buy it, paying for the free content).

no, it's because they only have 1600 point cards which cost $20
Can't you use your credit card to buy just the points you need.

To a certain extent. You can buy them off Xbox Live, but only in the following amounts...

500 = £4.25
1000 = £8.50
2000 = 17.00
5000 = 42.50

You can buy pre-paid cards in places like Gamestation, but they only do either 2100 for £17.50, or 4200 for £34.25.

You can find points cards on ebay too. I've bought some from there, and they tend to work out cheaper.

I live in the U.S., you CAN'T buy JUST the points you need for a particular DL straight off XBL, and I don't want microsoft to have my card #, so I renew my subscription & buy points through cards, if Microsoft would release $10, 800 point cards, I could buy them more often

Right, so back on topic, there's a thread at COD.com that purports to show the new weapon. It looks like an STG with a huge flashlight strapped on top. FYI.
