Busted Out Of Mothballs: Yesterdays Heroes, Today

And the idea of Dwayne Johnson as Jonny Quest gives me the willies.

Well, he was going to be Race Bannon.

That's about as bad. It's the same colorblind casting I was complaining about in the rest of my post.

I'll give you tall and tan, but Nordic? Has that word ever been used to describe Doc in the books?

A few times. Lester Dent wanted him to be seen as of Western European descent, without specifics. Other authors in later books described him according to their own interpretations.

Of interest is the fact that George Pal had Ron Ely's hair bleached for the role, even though most authors of the series described Doc as having darker hair than the shade of his tan, which Ron Ely could have easily achieved by leaving his hair alone. Admittedly, a lot of that is because the Larry Bama illustrations show Doc with lighter hair.

Speaking of Ron Ely, it looks like his wife has been stabbed to death by their son. The son, in turn, was killed by police. What a horrible thing. :(
