"Burn Notice"

I just discovered this series a few weeks ago, at the beginning of the second half of the second season; USA was running a 'marathon' of 3 episodes, repeating (9 hours, same three eps ).

I'd seen the ads but for some reason the show never stuck in my consciousness; now, I love it! The characters are great, especially the lead, Michael Weston, the 'spy who got left out in the cold.' This show is like a mash-up of MacGuyver and Magnum, P.I., and it doesn't hurt that Bruce Campbell is around to add obvious levity, but even without him, it's witty and funny. I love Weston's voiceovers, talking about the things that spies know/do/avoid/eat/etc. After seeing the second half of the season, I went out and bought the first season on DVD (then it was on sale last night at Target ), took it to my friends' house, and got them hooked, too.

I haven't seen much public reaction to this show. I highly recommend it - it's just plain fun!

How long ago did you buy season one? If it's within return range still, you can buy it on sale at Target and return that with the original receipt to wherever you bought it from.

I saw some of the first season but it clashed with something else at the time. I did enjoy what I saw of it and have to agree on the characters.

I've got the S1 dvd on order and am just waiting for it to arrive

It was only $3 less - not worth the trip. This is one of those things where I say, "It was worth it to me at the original price - how much more is the discount worth to me?"

One of only a handful of shows I watch. Doesn't take itself so seriously and I love Michaels little 'tip for operatives' voiceovers.

Plus it gives Bruce Campbell a regular paycheck, so whats not to love?

For those who like picking up extra show features on the web, Hulu has "Ask a Spy" segments where Michael Westin answers questions like, "Is my girlfriend a spy, or is she just cheating on me" which are hilarious. It also posts a 5-10 minute episode commentary every week with Matt Nix.

Hey, me too! I watched an episode in late January and as soon as it was over I ordered season 1 from amazon.com. When it arrived, I spent the entire weekend just watching Burn Notice. Westen is totally hot, Fiona is hilarious and I just love Sam and Mom... (not too fond of the brother... a cliche that he's a loser/screwup).

I have pre-ordered season 2... (there are a few episodes I haven't seen yet. Can't wait for season 3! Thank GOD it starts in June!!!

I saw a review or something for season 1 and caught it at the time, here in Australia. I think it's a great show, witty, upbeat, ongoing arc, Sharon Gless (I still remember Cagney and Lacey) and a lot of clever 'spy' details. And in Jeffrey Donovan they lucked into a charming, likeable lead. He's a bit like Ricky Gervais - his acting range is limited, but he's really good with what he has.

Really enjoying S2.
