Lt. Cmdr. Sam Axe embarks on a 2005 mission to Colombia to investigate claims of a vicious terrorist organization known only as the "Espada Ardiente" (Flaming Sword). His mission: to determine whether U.S. military aid is necessary to deal with the threat. But when he arrives, things are more complicated than he'd imagined. He receives word that the rebels have targeted a small civilian clinic deep in the jungle. Sam must now save the clinic's doctors and patients from certain death. However, nothing is as it seems and the Espada Ardiente may not be the biggest threat Sam Axe faces.

Oh, goodie! I finally get to see this. I love Sam; he's one of the best things about Burn Notice. I probably won't get to watch it until later, but at least I can record it.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

I'm still in season 2, so I don't know when I'll watch this.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

So who gave this a shot? There were a few referential chuckles (such as the origin of Chuck Finley, the Fiona reference and a shout out to Ash), but it didn't really add anything to the character of Sam Axe other than to give him what felt like his own two-part episode.

Kiele Sanchez is hot though.

If Veracruz were to come back seeking revenge this upcoming season, then I could see a payoff.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

Below Average

Yeah, Bruce Campbell is almost always fun, but the character of Sam Axe is best when used with Michael Westin and Fiona WTFisherlastname.

BTW, now that there's been a Sam Axe prequel, anyone interested in a Fiona prequel? The only downside I can think of is that she'd have to use that gawd awful accent from the first few episodes of the series...

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

Cheap, predictable, brainless, and lower production values than your average A-Team episode, but still fun in my book! :D I LOL'd at the goat herders' nickname for Sam: "The Chin". (Can't remember the Spanish version.)

So was the Ash shoutout the chainsaw, or something else? I also noticed a Star Wars reference: "Nice shot, *name?*! Don't get cocky!"

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

Snore. So predictable it didn't keep our interest. We watched until the second break and then decided to go back to the Rumpole episode we'd been watching. When we finished with that, we put Axe back on for about 5 minutes and gave up again.

Frankly, I think it suffered from poor writing, just as the last season of Burn Notice did. We'll probably check out the new season premiere of Burn Notice but if the writing hasn't improved, we're done with that, too.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

I like Burn Notice, but this was really pretty awful.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

It looked rather cheap, much like those shot in Bulgaria Syfy movies, which was a surprise. Sam's always been depicted as having a colorful career, but this story was pretty bland.
A let down for me.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

I voted average. So much promise... :p So little delivered.

Can someone please explain what Sam had over the Admiral that got him an honorable discharge, full pension and a ticket to Miami? I watched both showings just to find out what the heck I missed and I still didn't catch it.

ETA: Sam's narrative added absolutely nothing. He should have just said... "Here's what happened..." Then just let us watch what happened. I would also like to have seen a bit more ingenuity on Sam's part. Having the doctor without borders build a bomb while Sam is getting his butt kicked all over Columbia ... :wtf:?

The teenage girl that was Sam's primary interpretor with the "rebels" had photos and her own eyewitness account that the U.S. government was supportin' the wrong side in a third world country. She and her connections to a major newspaper outlet was Sam's insurance policy, so he got what he wanted to keep a PR nightmare from hittin' the U.S. government.

All in all, a great little flick. (Not sure what most of you were expecting, based on the comments above)

Here's hoping they can set up something similar for the backstory of when Michael Weston met Fiona Glenanne.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

For those who may have missed it and have On Demand as an option, USA has it available to watch (mostly commercial free).

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

I gave it an Average. I really love Sam but this little tv-movie was a little bit on the lame side. Perhaps I was expecting a bit much, but this just wasn't up to snuff, considering how many Burn Notice people worked on it. A regular episode might have more enjoyable.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

Anyone catch the amount of beer in Michael's glass constantly changing with every angle? I noticed it the first time around. :)

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

I thought it was a surprising amount of fun myself. I was dreading that it would just be some generic soldiers-on-a-mission story, with Sam running through the jungle and getting in knife fights or something (and of course watching his best friend die at the end in some tragic sacrifice), but was very pleasantly surprised to see them go in a much more comedic direction. The opening walk to the hearing was absolute brilliance, and there were quite a few good lines in it too.

It certainly wasn't the most original storyline, but it was still engaging and funny enough to get the job done I thought. And of course it was also cool to see a slightly slimmer Bruce again too.

Re: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe - April 17 on USA - Grade & Discu

I was entertained, but I gave it an average by comparison to the brilliant Burn Notice which I enjoy greatly whenever it is on.

Love Bruce, but this was a little bit cheap and lazy. At least when he does his own cheapo projects the commitment to them is very obvious.
