When a recently widowed woman hires Michael and Fiona to get her away from a group of violent con men, Michael turns to Madeline for help - but he may ask her to go too far. Meanwhile, a mysterious contact goes to extreme lengths to get Michael's attention.

You know, those long hiatuseseessseess (haiti?) are really killing shows. They lose momentum, people forget about them, and... damn.

What the hell are the "powers that be" thinking?

I don't know, but this show, Monk and Psych have been doing it for years and are doing multiple seasons, so it must work out pretty good for the ratings.

What time is it on?

The main con was kind of stupid, but they had a Cagney and Lacey reunion which was cool. Does the new British spy recurring character sound familiar to anyone? He didn't look like anyone I knew off hand in the preview.

EDIT: Never mind. It's Chris Vance from Prison Break, Mental and All Saints. I have no idea who he is.

If anyone cares, Carlos Bernard, Garret Dillahunt and Danny Trejo are going to be among this season's guest stars.

I really hate to say this, but...

The stunt casting ("Cagney and Lacy are Back!"), the lame snark between Fi and Sam, the tired plotting, all this has to make me ask...

Has "Burn Notice" jumped the shark?

Even if Burn Notice goes downhill, that's not the same as jumping the shark, at least not to me. It'd be more like overstaying your welcome or just running out of steam. I always thought jumping the shark was just going to the point of ridiculousness and being out of any cogent storyline.

Kinda like where Heroes is headed. imo. Except for HRG. His storylines may be blah sometimes, but he rules.

I loved that they brought in Tyne Daly. Making her part of the con, letting her and Sharon Gless save the day - THAT would have been jumping the shark. Instead, the two actresses got to work together again, got to enjoy some on-screen camraderie, and then they burned the bridge, pretty much permanently. Even though Tina won't lose her job, she still thinks Madeline betrayed her. They'd have to do some serious plot gymnastics to use her again.

I thought Sharon Gless' performance this week was phenomenal. She really tore me up. :techman:

That said, the extended burn notice mystery is getting thin. This is the season he needs to just let it go and become MacGyver. Find a Phoenix Foundation to work for and do what he does best - con criminals, help people, and blow up stuff. :D

Leverage is that kind of show, and a good one at that. Well maybe they don't blow stuff up much, but still...

I think I've managed to see one episode of Leverage. It needs to go up on Hulu so I can add another show to my list of addictions. ;)
