Bulldyke with Bob

It was pretty obvious that Neelix was in love with the captain, but that doesn't mean that we can justify a J/Neelix pairing. What I saw with Janeway and Seven is probably more than mentor/student, perhaps a close family bond, mother/daughter or maybe older sister/younger sister. I think it all depends on the slant that the viewer brings to the show, which means that people can imagine other pairings--J/7 or even J/Neelix, for that matter *shudders*. :p
 
I didn't see Neelix being in love with the captain at all. Instead I saw a guy that was going out of his way to please her so he could continue having a warm place to sleep onboard a luxury ship and friends to talk too. That was made clear too me in "Fair Trade".
 
For what it's worth Ethan Phillips said in an interviewhe played it as if Neelix were in love with the captain because given the script he didn't know how else to do it.
 
I saw the 'subtext' & that's before I was ever aware of the term. I don't know if any of it was deliberate or not. I also would have to say that being a lesbian may have allowed me to pick up more readily on any subtext, accidental or not.

If you consider that the show is about ratings & at the same time Xena: WP was pulling in viewers because of their deliberate subtext, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that TPTB deliberately put a little something in there. Also the real life tension between Mulgrew & Ryan I think accidentally helped. They were quite electric together, probably because the sparks were flying for all the wrong reasons.

Just an aside, the title of the thread is a little OTT. Personally I would have gone with 'Borgdyke with Janegay'. ;)

I forgot to mention this yesterday & I'm sure Kate Mulgrew would be mortified to know it, but as Janeway, the amount of times she addresses & looks at Seven's boobs is unbelievable. :rommie:

I think everyone was in the same boat on that one. Given her height, there weren't many people in the cast who wouldn't be looking at them at eye level.
 
There are quite a few folks who did and wrote a lot of fanfiction about it. A few sites are still going on with tales of J/7 fun. Some of them are quite fun reads with great characters and stories.
 
Given Brannon Braga's involvement and maturity level...is there ANY doubt in ANYBODY's mind that this was likely quite a deliberate subtext?
