Building new computer, review my shopping cart?

My computer died monday after a power surge fried the power supply and motherboard, luckily the hard drives look to have survived, but It was time to upgrade anyways and with renewed vigor I head to NewEgg, determined not to break my bank, but still put together something worth laying down the cash.

Here is the cart as she stands tonight:
Mobo: ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz
Video: PNY GeForce GTX 260 896MB
RAM: G.SKILL 2 GB (2x1GB) DDR2 1066
Power: CORSAIR 450VX (Labeled as 450w but actually runs around 580w, with 80%+ efficiency)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200.11http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218

Totals up to a very reasonable cost for the power, though sadly I have to pay tax since I live in California where they ship out from.

If anyone has any suggestions on better products, or cheaper prices elsewhere, or has a horror story about one or more of these components, please let me know. I'll probably be ordering tomorrow morning.

Thanks,
Devin

Personally, I would stay away from an Asus MB, but that's just me. They've been known to be of poor quality, but that might be the older ones.
I built a system almost a year ago and got an Intel MB to go with a Core2 Quad 2.4 GHz CPU.
Have you looked at TigerDirect.com?

Yeah, I echo that setiment about the ASUS motherboards...I had a PC built by a local computer shop back around 2001 or so, with an ASUS motherboard and it was never right. For one the battery slot never worked...never would keep CMOS and clock settings with the power off. And IIRC, it (not the battery thing, but the board itself) affected the way the system ran, and it wasn't good.

Also 2 GB of RAM is not enough these days...DELL isn't building anything in the XPS series with less than 4 GB. I just bought a 2.66 GHz Core 2 Quad Core (12 MB L2 cache) w/ 4 GB DDR2 @ 800 MHz (yeah, I didn't realize this until after I bought it) w/ 512 MB ATI Radeon HD 3870.

Got a sweet 24" widescreen monitor (1920x1600 native res) too. Gained 6" horizontally and 2" vertically from my old 19" CRT.

Except that 4GB of RAM calls for a 64-bit OS which the OP may not have and may not wish to invest in.

More ram is always an option for the future. I don't need it immediately, especially since I won't be putting vista on this beast.

Thanks guys. I understand the concerns about the motherboard, but Ive seen some really solid reviews for this one so I'm not too worried.
