Buffyverse question about demons and dinosaurs

Nobody is saying that they should introduce aliens, but that doesn't mean that they aren't still out there somewhere.

I find it strange that EJA you would accept demons but not aliens in the same universe. What does it matter if there are aliens in the Buffy verse? Maybe some of these aliens have assume demon form and have an agenda for Earth. There are all kinds of different possibilities that can be explored. It is clear that we do not share the same views on the aspect of continuity and you have some kind of personal ultimate continuity built up.

It just feels a bit incongruous to me to have aliens in the Buffyverse; just look at all the myriad races of demons living on Earth. It doesn't need aliens, and I believe it would be a mistake if they were ever introduced into the Buffyverse. In my personal view, all life in the Buffyverse originated either on Earth or in other dimensions. It seems simpler that way.
Sounds good. Demons in the Buffyverse can be introduced to represent anything, so no need for aliens of the sci-fi kind. Apparently, though, the concept of demons originally referred to spirits or divine powers of all kinds, at a time when they may have been considered to have inhabited celestial spheres. In other words, they may conceptually have been the same thing as aliens.

Regarding the Queller demon: It's supposed to come from the moon, right? Well, scientific doctrine holds that the moon was formed billions of years ago from fragments of the Earth itself that were flung into space when a large space body crashed into the planet, and these fragments went into orbit and coalesed over time to form the planet's natural satellite. If we suppose that demons inhabited Earth at the time all this happened, then perhaps some demons went into space with the fragments? That way we don't have to worry about demons in Proxima Centauri or the Andromeda Galaxy.

^ It's been a while since I saw the relevant episode, but I think that the demon's origins were left vague enough so that it could have originated from Earth orbit or something. Of course, it could simply have been that the entry point into our own continuum could have been elevated. (I think that the word continuum is more correctly applied than the word dimension here, even if it seems that most people use the latter.)

EJA if you're so concerned maybe you should write Joss about this matter and find out what his thoughts are on it.

I suppose you could say my personal view of the Buffyverse is kind of a reverse of the Doctor Who Universe. Alien civilizations are aplenty in Dr Who, but there are no supernatural/magical elements. In the Buffyverse, the supernatural and the mystical abound, but there aren't any traditional sci-fi aliens. But that's just my opinion.

Just read something interesting in the Fallen Angel comic book by Peter David, where the angel Liandra meets Illyria. At one point Liandra tells Illyria that she and her master (i.e. God) saw her when she ruled the world, and that they both knew that Illyria and all her kind would eventually go the way of the dinosaurs. Nothing much, I know, but I just thought I'd mention it. This would imply that the Old Ones either survived the mass extinction event that destroyed the dinosaurs, or arrived on Earth afterwards. Illyria was certainly in power after humans evolved.

Whether the Primordium Age encompassed other planets besides Earth or not, there sure were a very large number of Old Ones based on this planet (Illyria's centre of power was in the region corresponding to modern California). And then there's the Deeper Well, which had hundreds, if not thousands, of sarcophagi containing Old One remains in it, also conveniently located on Earth.
