Buffy ep by ep; rewatch and reviews

I don't think it's that out of character for Xander to screw up, not least when we think of Becoming pt2 and OMWF?

NORMAL AGAIN

The Good;
Some great acting from SMG, lovely to see Kristine/Joyce again. Also I really like the idea of Tara to the rescue, so lovely that she get's to play the hero for once.

The Bad;
Nothing bad, just a depressing ep

Best line;
Spike; "You didn't say it was a Glarg gul cashmanik demon!"
Xander; "Because I can't pronounce Glarg gul..."

Women good/men bad;

Jeez!;
Not the ep if you don't like needles, including Willow snapping the demons stinger off

Kinky dinky;
Xander queries what exactly Buffy means when she says 'Poked'.

Captain Subtext;
Will sees Tara smooching with another girl but it might be just platonic. Spike uses the term poof of Xander. Also see Missing Scenes. Buffy says that once you fall for Willow you stay fallen.

Guantanamo Bay;
Rather ruthless that Xander just wants to go down to the basement and execute the demon

Scoobies to the ER;

Missing scenes;
(reputedly)
BUFFY: I could wrestle naked in oil for a living and still be cleaner than after a shift at the Doublemeat.

Spike; good or bad?
Spike helps save Buffy. He abuses Xander but for once he's justified, Xander seems to go out of his way to vent his anger by picking a fight with Spike who for once has a viable comeback to use against him.

Dawn in peril; 9 yes but in fairness the same as everyone else. She seems pretty resourceful both against evil-Buffy and the demon in the basement.

Dawn the bashful virgin; 7

What the fanficcers thought;
Obviously a lot of fic in this regard but I have 3 favourites. In one Buffy wakes up as an old woman in the asylum and promptly chucks herself out the window. The paramedics wonder why this dead old lady has such a smile on her face whilst back in the Buffyverse Dawn wakes Buffy up to join her friends for breakfast. Number 2 also has the same premise but in this one old Buffy turns her delusion into a series of bestselling novels/TV series and uses the money to start an orphanage called Sunnydale, naming all the kids after the Scoobies and her parents. Best of all though has Buffy awakening from her delusion just after the end of Chosen, still only 23 in the real world. She returns to her normal life with her old friends from Hemery High (who are all still alive as the deaths in the movie/Lie to Me never happened) but convinces a pregnant Joyce to call her perfect new daughter Dawn. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3021363/1/No_place_like_home
Also plenty of fic focusing on a world where Buffy isn't the Slayer. Taboo Comics have a pornographic web-comic series where Buffy fantasises about a world where she isn't the Slayer. She and Willow end up slaves in a demon brothel but in the follow up story eventually get bored with it, poison their masters and go into business for themselves, delighting in all the demon sex they want part time plus enjoying their normal lives at home and at Sunnydale High into the bargain. Can anyone give me the address to contact Joss as I'm sure they don't pay him for the rights and he wouldn't approve?
Lots of other fic too where Buffy isn't the Slayer but Willow, Cordy and even Joyce are or she's just Faith the Vampire Slayer's girlfriend.

Questions and observations;
Actually for once it's Dawn who strokes Buffy's hair (and Joyce does the same thing to asylum Buffy). Buffy acknowledges for the first time that Dawn is taller. No Anya at all for the first time in 2 seasons. If you want to know how Buffy fared during her time in the asylum you can find it in the original Buffy comics (the fifty or so published whilst the show was still on air rather than the current post-Chosen/season 8 series). Although perhaps more fun is the story of Dawn and Hoopy Bear that occured whilst Buffy was away.
There are probably about a thousand reasons why the premise of Normal Again (that Sunnydale is the delusion of Buffy who's a mad girl in an asylum) can't be true but here are just a few that occur to me off the top of my head;
1. How does stuff happen in the Buffyverse that Buffy never knows about? Giles' questions about her killing Angel, Xander's 'Kick his ass' comment in Becoming pt2, all of Angel;TS but especially 'I will remember you'? And notice we only ever see the asylum from Buffy's point of view, she's in every scene.
2. How can Hank, Joyce and Ford exist in both Buffy's delusion and the 'real world'?
3. Why is Buffy's delusion in Sunnydale not happier than real life? Surely her delusion is supposed to be an escape?
4. The asylum can't be Buffy's ideal if it doesn't have Dawn in it
5. How can Buffy be aware of current events (Tom and Nicole, Gatorade's new flavour, Star Trek; Enterprise) if she's a mad girl in the asylum?
6. If Buffy had a momentary awakening when she was dead why doesn't she remember it? The asylum is far from heaven.
7. What about when Buffy runs away from her calling after the end of season 2? She's a normal girl in the real world and also in her delusion?
8. How can Buffy be in a fugue state in Weight of the World within her delusion? And how exactly can she be inside Faith's dreams in 'This Year's Girl'?
On the other hand...?
730 is the California legal code for schizophrenia ('You are number 6'?) The final scene on Buffy has Sunnydale destroyed, the Hellmouth sealed forever, literally and figuratively defeating her demons and HERSELF in the shape of the First Evil, the Slayer's work done. 'Faith' (faith in herself?) tells Buffy that from now on she's going to have to live as a normal person. Dawn (a new dawn for sane Buffy?) wonders what Buffy is going to do now? Buffy smiles her enigmactic little smile...and wakes up in the asylum, her sanity restored. She resumes her normal life, all her friends who died in the film still alive as indeed is Joyce who is still together with Hank. She becomes a successful author of supernatural stories based on her delusion which are turned into movies and a TV series. And calls her children (and Joyce and Hanks beloved grandchildren) Dawn, Willow, Rupert, Faith and Alexander.
Third explanation of course, both are true, asylum Buffy and Sunnydale Buffy are both real and have some sort of subconscious link. Post-Chosen asylum Buffy regains her sanity and enjoys her normal life once more, the season 8 comics are her dreams which she writes down for a living but which are the reality for Sunnydale Buffy.
Marks out of 10; 6/10 clever but not much fun

I enjoyed Normal Again. I am a sucker for 'what if none of this is real?' stories. The episode reminded me of Benny Russell in the psych ward/Ben Sisko. Of course, how could Benny invent events he had no part of (TOS, TNG, VOY, ENT); how can Buffy invent Angel? I would have liked to see asylum Buffy again, actually.

Of course, there is a plot oversight in this ep, which has been discussed on this BBS before. Buffy claims she was in a mental institution once. What? When Joyce hears her talk of vampires in the first two seasons, she has no idea what she's talking about. Not 'oh no, she's relapsing into her delusions'. I can only assume the institution was a result of the alternate universe created when the monks made Dawn. Dawn must have blabbed to Joyce, and Joyce had Buffy locked up. I wish someone would make an animated version of the first four seasons, in the Dawnverse. Some of those eps would have played out quite differently than the way we saw them. Especially the latter half of season two what with Angelus and all (shudder)

In the comics Dawn reads Buffy's diary leading Joyce to read it and that's how Buffy ends up in the asylum. In the pre-Dawn world I guess Joyce just reads it herself. The story of Dawn, Hank and Joyce whilst Buffy is away in the asylum 'Hoopy Bear' is my favourite Buffy comic ever including season 8.
As for Joyce not picking up on Buffy's little asides in seasons 1&2, well, much as we love her she is the queen of denial.

ENTROPY

The Good;
Anya's hilarious attempts to take vengence on Xander. The Geeks vamphunting. Buffy and Dawn the happiest they've been together in a long time. But best of all Willow and Tara back together.

The Bad;
Not much, a lot more fun than recent eps. You do feel bad for Anya though.

Best line;
Anya; "What kind of lesbians are you? If you love men so much, go be with men!"

Women good/men bad;
Actually Tara and Willow are fine with guys liking the girl/girl action and understand completely much to Anya's disgust. Anya is perfectly justified in her rage at Xander. Halfrek has cursed a man who refuses to pay child support to recieve a paper cut each time he touches paper (in many ways Halfrek is much more merciful than Anyanka?). She also comments on Anya's whole 'female power take back the night thing'. Xander actually says the old relationship cliche 'It's not you it's me'. Anya comments on her 'changing to please' Xander.

Jeez!;
Jonathon tells Warren to leave him alone with his experiment or they'll be 'Deader than an ex-girlfriend'. Stick it in and break it off why don't you?

Kinky dinky;
The Troika and the Scoobies voyeuristically watch Anya and Spike at the Magic Shop via the nerd's cameras. Anya describes men as having been 'riding roughshod over Buffy' for years. She describes Xander as 'bumpy in the right places' and says she has a sexy dance. Spike says Anya's the only Scooby he'd consider biting but we know that's a lie from Buffy and Willow in 'Lover's Walk'.

Captain Subtext;
Tara and Willow say they don't hate men and are all about the girl/girl action. As Andrew watches Spike and Anya at the Magic Shop rather than comment on the hot girl he thinks Spike is cool. As with Hell's Bells Buffy might want rid of Spike but is not too keen on him immediately taking up with another girl. Buffy and Dawn seem a lot closer this ep, partly as a measure of big sis' guilt over Normal Again. Buffy confides in Dawn about her and Spike but not the others who have to find out for themselves. Willow tells Tara about the wig lady monster and says what we were all thinking about it's appearance. Spike calls Xander a ponce. Anya observes that none of the Scoobs speak their mind which is true. And Willow and Tara get all kissy, awwww!

Guantanamo Bay;
Anya wants to talk about torture

Spike; good or bad?
He feels sympathy for Anya being left at the altar and it seems quite genuine.

Dawn in peril; 9

Dawn the bashful virgin; 8 Willow shields Dawnies' eyes as she catches her watching Spike and Anya have sex at the Magic Shop

What the fanficcers thought;
A truly hilarious fanfic dealing with this episode has the various Scoobies appearing on The Jerry Springer Show and Xander being confronted by the footage of Anya and Spike at the Magic Box AND Buffy's shameful confession live on air. Of course he then does the sensible thing and hits Spike over the head with a chair.... But as Jerry says in his final thought if Tara and Willow can find their love for one another again can't we all. Take care of yourselves and each other. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3015874/1/Buffyspringer

Questions and observations;
Do we really think Giles would drink Jack Daniels? Surely he's a Scotch man? Maybe Gwendoline Post was right, he has become too American. Dawn no longer likes pet shops, perhaps because she too has been a prisoner at least twice. Note Warren seems to take sadistic glee at hunting the vamps. Buffy feels bad about the events of Normal Again but her friends and sister easily forgive her, she's delighted to feel the love. Are there real gnomes in the Buffyverse?
Marks out of 10; I was going to say that Entropy was a good title for a season that had lost it's way and become quite dismal in places but actually this is more like it, sex and character based comedy with a happy ending. 8/10

^Entropy fun? It was a good ep, but I'm not sure fun would be my word to describe it. Some serious proverbial hits the cooling apparatus in this episode. Spike and Anya's revenge had me feeling dreadful for both Buffy and Xander. More cruel a punishment to him than any vengeance demon spell.

But Anya looking for vengence IS funny and you can't help but be charmed by Willow and Tara?

Yep, time to discuss THAT scene

SEEING RED

The Good;
The Orb theft and the wonderful battle between Buffy and the Troika. Tara and Willow getting back together and Dawn's delighted reaction to it. And Anya still looking for the vengence.

The Bad;
Not so much bad as the ending and the bathroom scene are just shocking. Contrary to common belief you can see the jetpack under Warren's jacket as he's fighting Buffy although you wonder how Jonathon didn't notice? Warren doesn't so much abandon Andrew, he flies off and expects Andrew to follow him.

Best line;
Jonathon; (arrested and taken to the police station) "Uh oh. The BIG house"

Women good/men bad;
Anya's latest victim had her boyfriend cheat on her with her sister. Spike forcing himself on Buffy on the bathroom floor, rape the crime that subjugates women and demeans men. Waren calls Buffy 'superbitch'.

Jeez!;
I find the bathroom scene just unwatchable, Buffy's terrified, tearful pleading is just heartrending. So brutally realistic compared to what we saw between Darla and Angel in 'Reprise' or any number of 'Princess and the Viking' scenarios. You also feel sorry for poor Buffy hurting her back. Sure she has Slayer healing but it still HURTS! Andrew actually yells "Kill her! Kill her!". Tara and Buffy shot, Willow soaked in Tara's blood.

Kinky dinky;
Spike's awful ravishing Buffy on the floor of the bathroom (if we don't count the Master the 6th time Buffy has been sexually assaulted unless someone can correct me?). Xander considers incest unsexy (and so say all of us!) although given some of the things he's fantasised about in the past you wonder if he'd turn down group sex with Jonathon's blonde Swedish twins from Superstar? Or with Buffy/Joyce/above-the-age-of-consent Dawn? The geeks have sexy action figures in their lair including interestingly Vampirella. Tara and Willow in their sheets. Check out Xander chatting up the beautiful girl in the bar, he's come a long way since High School. Xander refers to Buffy searching for hidden cameras as 'The spring poking'.

Captain Subtext;
Buffy seems quite intrigued by the Vampirella action figure in the Geeks lair. Andrew's desire to get his hands on Warren's orbs. You wonder who the Klingon love poems are written by and dedicated to? "He never really loved...hanging out with us". Willow and Tara give us a good idea of exactly what they got up to after the candle went out in New Moon Rising much to Dawn's delight "I love you guys!". When Willow and Tara say they'll stop kissing Dawn tells them 'Oh you'd better not'. Will says to Tara "Yes mam!". Spike and Buffy have discussion about the nature of love, Spike saying that it burns and consumes, Buffy saying that such fiery love doesn't last. Willow had an inkling something was going on between Spike and Buffy. You rather get the idea that Spike hangs around with Clem because he's lonely, Buffy might have sex with him but she doesn't actually like him, she doesn't want to talk with him or watch Knightrider marathons (Spike seems like a fan, mentioning KITT in a season 5 Angel ep). Buffy emasculates Warren by 'smashing his orbs'.

Guantanamo Bay;

Scoobies to the ER;
Xander get's pretty bloody from Warren's punch and Buffy's nasty backache and bruise. Buffy and Tara shot at the end.

Spike; good or bad?
Now I was quite amazed how when this came out how many people sought to excuse Spike for the Buffyrape, they actually said things like 'Oh she led him on, she gave out mixed signals' etc and referred to the scene in the Bronze in Dead Things (where she initially resists but then pleasurably submits like every porn heroine ever!) as proof. I actually challenged people on The Bronze by asking them was Buffy 'asking for it'? Spike tries to rape Buffy and had she been anyone but the Slayer he would surely have succeeded. As he says 'I would never..' and she correctly replies "Because I stopped you!" and "Now ask me why I can never love you!". Ultimately I think Spike loves Buffy as much as he's able to,'quite well' as Dru says in Crush and has done many heroic things but without a soul he can never be good, he is the serial killer in prison obeying the rules for his own benefit. Xander is 100% right about him. And Buffy can't truly love him not only because of what he's done but because he has no soul, he's not the full package.

Dawn in peril; 9

Dawn the bashful virgin; 9 plays the TV really loud to drown out the Willow/Tara sex (or does she? She is quite the voyeur after all?)

What the fanficcers thought;
Needless to say many sought to bring Tara back through various literary devices (and the same with Joyce and Cordy). Personally I have no problem with that as long as there is some form of price to be paid as there's been this season for bringing back Buffy, not just Willow did a spell and there she was. If you ever need a happy ending to any Buffy darkfic that upset you, here it is (don't be fooled by the title); http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4643199/1/The_Rape_of_Buffy

Questions and observations;
Spike still has his motorcycle from Bargaining. Another numbered t-shirt for Willow. I always thought that the blonde girl Anya chats up in the bar played Tru's best friend in Eliza Dushku's series Tru Calling but she isn't. Warren refers to Jonathon as 'The Shemp' which is a term coined by Sam Rami and Bruce Campbell in The Evil Dead and Clem seems to think that wrapping a wet towel around Spike's head will disable his chip an idea he seems to have garnered from Total Recall.
Marks out of 10; 8/10 fun, powerful but ultimately tragic

Seeing Red is where the shinola seriously hit the fan. The rape scene, and Tara's demise were both horrible to watch :( I wept when Tara died. The most heartrending deaths in the Buffyverse for me are:

1) Joyce
2) Tara
3) Fred
4) Wes :(
5) Jonathan
6) Jenny

All devastating and heartbreaking to watch :( Farewell Tara, you were a great character..

Yep, she was a peach:( I agree with your list but also add Kendra and Amanda in Buffy and Doyle and Cordy in Angel. In a manner of speaking also include Lilah, not so much her actual death as Wes decapitating her and then trying to save her from her WR&H contract. Note when Ilyria lies to a dying Wes she uses the same phrase as Lilah 'My Wesley', possibly reading his mind?

Ah, Marti Noxon, you poster girl for happy relationships! :vulcan:

Wasn't funny at the time but hindsight yes:p

VILLAINS

The Good;
DarkWillow saving Buffy then her relentless pursuit of Warren. The Geeks in jail, the heartbreaking scenes with Buffy, Dawn and Xander.

The Bad;
Surely the Sunnydale police must need to get lengthy witness statements from Buffy and Xander? Wouldn't they hang around the house after the paramedics report the shooting? Buffy appears to have heart surgery yet keep her top on (like Kaylee on Firefly). Also the bullet seems awfully high in her chest to have damaged her heart.

Best line;
Xander; "I've had blood on my hands all day, blood of people I love"

Women good/men bad;
Everything that comes out of Warrens mouth. DarkWillow states that he has a big thing about the Slayer because he wants to dominate powerful women (which would explain a lot of the nastier fanfic out there)

Jeez!;
Willow skins Warren, god damn!

Kinky dinky;

Captain Subtext;
Jonathon is very nervous of his prospects in prison, especially as he's heard that prisoners like lovers with small hands like their girlfriends? Andrew by contrast is suprisingly blase(?) Clem says he's been dying to see The Wedding Planner?

Scoobies go evil: Willow and how! I almost think that what's more disturbing is the way DarkWillow just leaves Tara's corpse lying there on the floor soaked in her blood, compare that with Dawn who stays with the body of the girl she loves because she doesn't want her to be alone.

Spike in Africa where the demon says that he's been 'castrated', a vamps ability to kill once again compared to sexuality.

What the fanficcers thought;
One that always sticks in my mind is where Season 7 Willow is nightly visited by Warren's ghost who tortures her by cutting the flesh from her body. She eventually realises that it's not Warren at all but her guilt manifesting itself magically. She forgives Warren and forgives herself, healing herself and dreaming only of the happiness she knew with Tara from then on. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3054002/1/Deserving Another good one is that Glory has brainsucked Faith so Willow brainsucks Warren before she kills him and uses his mental energy to cure Faith, restoring our favourite dark haired Slayer's sanity once more.
And a lovely one where Tara's ghost visits Dawn. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3049970/1/As_Dawn_lay_snuggled_in_her_bed

Questions and observations;
Interesting philosophical debate between Xander and Buffy, Xander wonders if Willow is justified in going all Punisher, Buffy says she can't be (perhaps because of what happened to Faith in Bad Girls or her in Dead Things?). Whilst at the beginning of the season we had Willow as human and Buffy struggling to regain her humanity now we have Willow acting inhuman and Buffy as the one acting with humanity. Andrew is a fan of Mathew Broderick who of course starred with Michelle Tractenberg in Inspector Gadget. The cave paintings on the wall in Africa depict a man tied up and flayed alive and with his mouth sewn up just like Warren. Despite it all your heart still stops when you think Warren has killed Willow with the axe.
Here's a question, presuming this is in real time how did Spike get to Africa so fast? In Angel he remarks he's never been on a plane before?

Depending on whether you accept the comics as canon or not, you can add Warren to your 'kills' and 'recurring character deaths' tally. I was glad to see him go, he was a nasty piece of work. But in such a horrific way!

The last fews eps, from Seeing Red up to the finale of season six, are an emotional rollercoaster. Tara's death hurt, but the reactions of the other Scoobs to it are just as devastating. Especially Dawnie's :(

One weird thing I always can't help noticing. When Warren has been skinned and we're looking at his skinless body sagging between the trees - does it look to anybody else like he's wearing shoulder-pads?

I guess that's what your muscles look like?

TWO TO GO

The Good;
This ep just never stops moving, just like 'truck driving magic momma' DarkWillow.

The Bad;
No time for that!

Best line;
Anya; (of Andrew) "The annoying vrigin has a point"

Women good/men bad;
The female coven sense the impending disaster whilst the male dominated Council don't

Jeez!;
You really know how far Willow has gone when she threatens her beloved Dawn, mocking her loss of Tara and Joyce. Willow really doesn't live here anymore as is brought home by her referring to herself in 3rd person.

Kinky dinky;
Anya tells Xander that her tryst with Spike was not vengence as it appeared, it was solace. Xander doubts that Andrew has ever had any sex. According to Clem Rack likes 'little girls' (as we saw with Willow and Amy). Dawn says she's not a little girl anymore but still insists on going to see him, willing to pay any price to help those she loves.

Captain Subtext;
Xander spends almost the whole episode bemoaning his uselessness. Don't worry, every dog has his day and it's coming. Andrew says he's willing to search every hole in his body or Jonathon's? Note Jonathon keeps trying to help at the Magic Shop, he wants to be part of the Scoobygang. Even DarkWillow still refers to Dawn as 'cutie' and 'honey'. Spike meanwhile get's half naked and all sweaty with the 'walking action figure' (who later turns up as Helo's...I'm sorry Agent Ballard's sparring partner in Dollhouse).

What the fanficcers thought;
Lot's of alternative versions of the Buffyverse I remember a fic where an alternate Buffy and Dawn (Fluffy and Sunrise or something?) are prematurely aged by a demons curse but in the follow up story they touch each other and the magical link between them restores their youth whilst draining the lifeforce from the demon. They then stick him in an old folks home and occasionally pop in to tease him.

Questions and observations;
Anya says that Willow is the most powerful wicca in the Western Hemisphere (she's the wicked witch of the West?). Anya's outfit makes her look like some sort of puritan. Check out kung-fu DarkWillow.

What the hell does that have to do with this episode?

Again - Willow is not a Wicca. She is a witch. Not your mistake, it's the show's, but it just annoys me.

The female coven sense the impending disaster whilst the male dominated Council don't

How convenient...a female coven powerful enough teleport Giles all the way from England to Sunnydale and invest him with all kinds of power he never had before...it sure would have been nice to have something like that help out against Glory!!

Can anyone believe the line Jonathan has: "Darth Willow is on a rampage and none of you have the midichlorians to stop her?" Whichever of the munchkins wrote this garbage needs his or her WGA card burned.

I think they pretty much blur the line between witch and wicca but not as badly as Charmed did. As for Andrew's remark it's excactly the kind of thing someone like him would say?

GRAVE

The Good;
My all time favourite ep of Buffy is 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered'. My all time favourite scene is the ending of 'Forever' where Buffy and Dawn collapse into each other's arms. And my all time favourite Buffy moment is when Xander confronts DarkWillow and that first tear rolls down her cheek. And in that second you realise he's got her, that everything is going to be all right after all. Makes me cry every time. First saw it at a convention where they played Enrique Ingliseas' song 'Hero' over it and it was wonderful.
And little Dawnie swordfighting side by side with big sis Buffy, makes me cheer every time! Also love Willow's 'Fly my pretty!'. You'd think they'd have tried the whole bucket of water routine on her?

The Bad;
Although there's supposed to be a limitless amount of root monsters you can see there's actually only 4.

Best line;
DarkWillow (dismissively) "This is your master plan? Telling me that you love me?" (Yep and it's BRILLIANT!)

Women good/men bad;

Jeez!;
Spike and the beetles, urgh!

Kinky dinky;
Willow (upon Giles' entrance) "Uh oh, daddy's home. I'm in trouble now" Yes you are my dear, prepare for one magical spanking. Dawn finally learns of the Spike/ Buffy rape.

Captain Subtext;
Buffy says that Dawn will be beautiful and powerful. Face it Buff, she already is. Andrew and Jonathon seem very wary of the trucker who gave them a lift. Spike calls the demon a 'ponce'. Check out Anya and Buffy flocking into Giles' arms like a couple of excited little girls happy to see their daddy home.

What the fanficcers thought;
Liked the one where DarkWillow does destroy the world only for in the follow up story Dawn 'The Key' Summers to appear in front of her, glowing with green energy and putting it all right. Also liked the one of Xander actually failing to persuade Willow but then in the follow up story higher power Cordy turns up because she's the REAL love of Willow's life and she succeeds where Xander fails, persuading DarkWillow to put everything right.
On a lighter note there's a good one showing Willow's first day at Sunnydale nursery (with teacher Flutie and little Harmony, Jonathon, Larry etc). We find out that actually frightened little Cordy snapped Willow's crayon because she was jealous of Willow and Xander's instant friendship, feeling excluded and leaving her to sit with Harmony. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3083212/1/The_Yellow_Crayon
Always amazing what fanficcers come up with. I remember one where Dru and Snyder sexually enslave Faith and Buffy in season 3 (I think it's literally called 'Buffy in a Slave Labor Camp'?). In the follow up story Snyder get's eaten by the Mayor at Graduation (who's then destroyed by the rest of the Scoobs)and Buffy just shrugs, breaks her chains and walks home into Joyce's arms whilst Dru falls in love with Faith and it's HER that get's her soul back so that they can be together.

Questions and observations;
According to the commentary SMG finds it easier to cry than to laugh? Hmmmm? DarkWillow feeling the world's suffering is similar to what CC experienced in 'To Shanshu in LA'. In 'How I met your mother' Alysson recently did an ep where Lily gave her 'dead to me' look which was very DarkWillow, glad she's changed her hair back to red, like her better that way.
I know that Joss is an avowed aethiest but you have to wonder about a story where a simple carpenter saves the world by professing his love? It strikes you as very Christian. Love conquers all.
I must confess that even after the final revelation I didn't understand the twist in the tail. I genuinely thought Spike had gone to Africa to get his chip removed and that the demon had doublecrossed him and restored his soul instead. Someone at The Bronze had to correct me (hangs head in shame). In season 5 Buffy, Willow and Tara discuss Quasimodo's love for Esmerelda in the hunchback for Notre Dame, he's not the hero because all his actions are selfishly motivated. Only when Spike get's his soul back can we truly judge him.
Once again, love conquers all, it can save the world, it can save a friend, it can bring two sisters together and it can redeem a monster.
Marks out of 10; 9/10 just great
