Buck Rogers is back

If Twiki doesn't look like a walking chrome dildo with a talking canteen on its chest, I'm boycotting this film for violating canon.

Thinking about what Frank Miller will do with Buck Rogers is even more interesting than wondering what Darren Aronofsky is going to do with Robocop.

Frank Miller doing Buck Rogers? Holy shit, this could actually be cool! Release it now! Now! Now! Now! NOW!!!

Well, to be 'absolutely canon' Twiki wasn't a part of the original 1928 Philip Francis Nowlan novellas, nor was he a part of the 1939 movie house serial starring Larry Crabbe as Anthony 'Buck' Rogers. Twiki was only introduced in the Gil Gerard serial of 1979-1981.

... so canon, schmanon.

I want the original novella or the famous Larry Crabbe serial version. They were much better anyway.

"Twiki" will be reimagined as a infantry soldier or killer robot with ten knives.

And then the biggest change will be Sarah "Buck" Rogers;)

Oh, good. For a moment there I was worried I might actually have to follow through on my boycott. Serious business.

Actually, I think Frank Miller is overated. Sin City may have been a great movie to look at, but with that kind of cast, I expected more $$$$$. And I have a funny feeling that Spirit is going to tank too....

Now...Aronofsky and Robocop? That sounds far more interesting to me than Buck Rogers.

^ You're not the only one. I've read nothing good among the many things I've read that he's written. (Sin City and 300 have their moments, though, which might be as easily attributed to their directors as to Miller.) I hope he gets nowhere near Buck Rogers.

I wondered why I'd never heard of it, having been a fan of the early comic strip when I was little.
