BTTF3: Should Marty McFly have played the guitar?

Reynolds

Commander
Red Shirt
I was just thinking about the scene in Back to the Future II when the older Marty was just fired. He was consoling himself by trying to strum an electric guitar.

Music was such a large part of the character. He didn't even touch a guitar in the third movie. I think he should have played a little ditty with an acoustic guitar in front of a camp fire in 1885. Not a huge production like the first movie just a small scene. It would have been a nice little touch. Strumming Summer of 69 or another song from the eighties.

What do you all think? Should Marty have played the guitar in Back the Future III?

Would he strum such a tune right before or after pointing out to Doc that the Griff thing is no big deal, they can pay him off, that his train plan is far more impossible than making a gasoline substitute, and that keeping Clara around threatens to prevent both their births, thus risking a space-time kerblooie? :p

Either way, sure, it could've been cool.

^^ LOL, thank you, Gaith. The only thing I can possibly refute is the thought to just pay Buford, since $80 was a hell of a lot of money in 1885, and Doc may not have had access to that. but... that could of course be countered by the suitcase full of money from various eras that Doc had (established in the first movie)...

back on topic, If they had spent any time establishing that Marty actually HAD a guitar in 1885, sure, it would have been nice, but now you're talking about more wasted screen time in an already convoluted film.

Doc probably could have paid Buford but by the time Marty told him what was going on, the damage was too far done. Doc had already confronted Bufford with a rifle and Bufford had already threatened him. Bufford would have killed him and he's not a man to be reasoned with.
