Bryan Singer's VALKYRIE in production hell, delayed unitl 2009

Damn, it's as if Brian Singer can't catch a break after that worthless Superman Returns!
Superman Returns continues to bring out the trolls.
Troll? Hardly. Singer absolutely ruined what could have been the best superhero movie ever. His obsession with Richard Donner, the separation of Lois from Superman and adding that stupid kid made the movie an unwatchable mess.

Yes please, let's talk about that again in here.

it's going to be a film with American actors speaking in American English

That sounds really lame. They should at least attempt German accents.

Then again, most of the Russian characters in The Hunt For Red October didn't speak with accents (at least not Russian ones), and that film turned out fine anyway.

And there was an attempt at Russian accents, IIRC, in K-19: The Widowmaker, which worked okay.

I'm firmly on the fence about the movie. For me its not an accent issue the trailer just didn't sell me solidly enough. I'd like to see more on it, another cut for a trailer perhaps.

I agree with these examples. I enjoyed Hunt and K-19 just fine regardless of accuracy to accents. I could do so with Valkyrie if I just felt compelled that it was going to be good. I'm not convinced its bad either just to clarify. I want to see more. I like a lot of Singers work, one exception not withstanding, and would like to see more of this before some suits box it up and its a DDVD offering.

One critic in Hollywood has declared “Valkyrie is dead”, with another arguing that the film’s problems could also wreck the revival of UA.

In between the failure of "Lions for Lambs" and the apparent bomb that this is shaping up to be, Tom Cruise the Movie Mogul is going to die a quick yet painful death.

^ Lions For Lambs wasn't his movie. He was third billing. Where were you when Magnolia went unnoticed at the box office?

apparently it's been delayed after terrible test screenings...
People can't buy Tom Cruise as a Nazi? What's the world coming to? :rommie:

Yknow, they just need to have the guts to admit Cruise is horribly wrong for the part and replace him with a good actor who can handle the role. How about Aaron Eckhardt? Reliable actor, can pretty much handle any role, looks the part.
It would have been better if he'd at least attempted an accent or played the role differently from Maverick and Ethan Hunt.

Either make everyone speak German and use subtitles or have them speak English in their natural accents. The worst option is to make everyone talk in cringeworthy German accents.

I don't think Eckhart looks more like von Stauffenberg than Cruise. He is a good actor, though. I've really only seen him in Thank You For Smoking, but that's truly a knockout performance. I could probably buy him in the role.

I don't think Tom right for the role it the accent thats putting me off otherwise it looks to be a good film.
