Vat did you think of Bruno?

It's mainly the talk show moment in the trailer, when he's saying he swopped the kid for an ipod or something, and that black woman in the audience is saying "you did what?!"
euugh, that just looks soooooooooooo shit. Really bad acting

Another random thing I dislike about the Borat film is how disjointed it is. There are interviews that last about 4 seconds. Like when he gives the guy some cheese and says "this is made with milk from my wife's tit"... and that's it. Thats the whole interview just for that line. Not really worth it

As for Ali G, probably a lot more well known in the UK than in the US, seen as he first became known on The 11 O'Clock Show over 10 years ago now. That's why Cohen had to come up with Borat & Bruno as no one would have been fooled by Ali G anymore (and why he had to do the US version)
Loved the character and skecthes, but I've only ever seen little bits and pieces of the film. It looks bloody awful

Well, I saw it.

As the old saying goes, "it's not without its charms."

It had its moments. But it was a pretty slight piece of film-making, overall.

I saw it a little bit ago. Thought it was hilarious. Had a smile on my face for the whole thing.

Went to see it yesterday with my friend.
As Bruno would say, definitely case of "Ich don't think so" rather than a "vassup"

Shite

After about 5-10 minutes we just looked at each other and shook our heads. God, it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fake. When you make it a film I understand part of it has to be planned, but it seemed as though about 95% of it was all just done with actors and totally unconvincing.
There were a few funny bits, but overall I'd give it about 4/10 maybe. Just poor. And not bad because it was "offensive", I don't care about that, it just wasn't very funny, the fakeness just ruined it. Like that bit where he's meant to be interviewing some terrorist in the Middle East. er, Ich Don't Think So. Obviously just some actor. And the talk show bit was afwul.
Literally nowhere near as amusing as the TV Bruno. I'd have no interest in ever watching it again.

Although I do expect the kids will lap it up. Today's "iPod generation" who hadn't even heard of Bruno before two months ago will probably fucking love it.

Wow, 2009 had a been a pretty lousy year for films thus far. They're all so throwaway and forgettable

It's not my kind of humour. Tricking people in spoof interviews was funny when Dennis Pennis (Paul Kaye) was doing it in The Sunday Show 10 years before Baron Cohen but even then the cringe factor was quite high.

I liked it a lot. I've never seen Borat, so keep that in mind but I'll definately see it after this. Obviously, parts of the film were staged but the parts that weren't were hilarious and, so were the parts that were, I suppose. I laughed a lot which is more than I can say for most comedies films I've seen in a long, long time.

Totally agree. Borat was worth watching the once, but I can't say the same for this. It was so staged, the sections that didn't seem staged were the funniest, but even then rather than giving people enough rope to hang themselves he was pushing it and making himself look an idiot, not them.

Bits like the part where he's locked together with his german friend in the hotel room-
The porter guy or whoever comes in, is shocked by what he sees, goes out into the hallway and phones the manager, managers come in, etc etc

It's all done like it's meant to be for real... er, there's obviously a fucking camera man right in the guys face! In the hotel room. In the hallway. Probably a soundman as we can hear what they're all saying, probably all miked up.
You'd really have to be very dumb to think that was for real.
Same goes for that swingers party with the OTT whipping woman.

Straight Dave did make me laugh a bit though
"I'm so straight, when I moved into my house, I bricked up the backdoor!"

And it looks like I was right in regards to the kids of today loving it. Looking at some of Facebook status updates. Bunch of fuckwit teens I know saying they thought it was hilarious... Ich don't think so.
And some are saying "but the gay bits were too much"
 Fuck right off. Homophobic pricks. It wasn't shit because of some OTT gay parts, it was shit because it was as fake as Jordan's tits

Appreciate you calling me a fuckwit because I have a different opinion than you.

The hotel room was a bit done in a local hotel here in Kansas City. They hotel's managers have been in the local media saying they were upset with the movie as they were tricked into what the film makers were doing -they were told the movie was a documentary about a man's travels in America which on the surface is true, it's inaccurate. So it seems that at the very least the hotel segment was "real."

You see they're doing a 15 rated version to draw more of them in?

What is there to even cut out? A few shots of a penis flopping about?
Wow, 15 year old boys will have never seen a penis before...

I'd guess the already blocked out views of sex? Dunno.
I'm almost certain they can get away with a flopping penis, especially since it's in a non-sexual context, in a 15 anyway.
