Bruce Boxleitner as Captain Archer?

Aquehonga

Fleet Captain
I doubt Bruce Boxleitner would've been cast as Archer anyway due to his stature in the Babylon Five-rse. Not to mention JMS, who'd probably/understandably be :scream::mad::brickwall: with BB if he did that.

But suppose TPTB&B offered BB the role of Archer & he accepted? In this imaginary scenario, JMS gives BB his full blessing & support in accepting the role.

JMS & TPTB&B tell the aficionadodoms of B5 & ST this is a way of bridging the 2 franchises casting-wise, even moreso than ST icon Walter Koenig's memorable Special-Guest Star Visits to B5 as Mr. Bester.

What kind of Captain Archer would Bruce Boxleitner have made?

PS: Personally I'm glad things are as they are due to the Quantum Leap Factor:hugegrin:

No Count Bakula as Captain Beckett, NO justification for Dean Spockwell on ENT & entc, entc.

I think he would have changed Archer from stupid to dopey. I don't think he would be intense enough to overcome some of the bad writing early on.

I've read NO replies as yet, but I retardedly FORGOT about the late Andreas Katsulas, who wedded B5 & ST to each other casting-wise far better than Walter Koenig's guest-spots as Bester did, when putting up my Thread Initiating Post:wtf:

How did Tomalak/G'Kar slip out of my braincase:mad:

That's epic dumb:o Major League Stupid:brickwall:

Bruce/Sheriden woulda made the xindii run for their lives when he got angry.

Bakula when angry is hard to take seriously.

Are we talking about the same Bruce Boxleitner? The guy from Scarecrow and Mrs King? Most of his Sheridan speeches couldn't scare off a Ferengi, much less the Xindi.

Um.... No.

Just....

No.

:guffaw: I was thinking something similar.

I was initially dubious about Bakula playing Archer, but he quickly convinced me and I think he did enough to make the role his own. Maybe not as much as Billingsley did with Phlox, but enough.

"Nuke 'em" Sheridan would have kicked the Xindi's ass. However, I'm not sure how Boxleitner would have fit in Season 1 & 2, when he had nothing to nuke. ;)

If we really want to imitate B5 though, Scott Bakula should have been played by Archer in the first two seasons and then he would have been replaced by Boxleitner (as a new combat-experienced die-hard captain) at the beginning of the Xindi arc. And when we're talking about intra-series changes of captains, what about Michael Ironside (think "seaQuest") in ENT's Season 3? I would have liked to see Ironside's captain to really butt heads with T'Pol. I guess Ironside would have been an anti-alien racist much like John Frederick Paxton. :D

(Don't worry... the first paragraph aside I was mostly kidding here.)

You do realise that Boxleitner is an actor who worked with JMS? he's not a serf of King JMS's who needs to get his blessing or permission to do stuff?

No we are talking about Tron whose jealous face when Flynn gets touchy-gropy with a certain female program is a lot like his angry face when he finds out that Lenier is in love with a certain Mimbari of the Grey council and prepared to let him die in an "accident".

:lol::guffaw:

My bad:o

That came across that way huh:o

Me words,^, chosen poorly!

:guffaw: Something about the way you put me words.

No thanks. I can think of a hundred other actors I would have preferred, including Scott Bakula.

Now, Bruce Campbell as Captain Archer...

Was Bruce and Scott our only option?. I would have liked younger actor in Archer role.
