Broadcast Film Critics award STXI 93/100!

Sure, why not? Without succumbing to hubris here, certain awards trackers had Star Trek up for a likely three or so Oscar nominations way back in February. You know, effects, sound editing, sound mixing, that sort of thing. They would be the first nominations since First Contact.
 
About bloody time!

And y'know all it needed was JJ Abrams.

And Captain Robau.

That's what previous Trek movies lacked.
 
But I hated dark knight... does that mean the Star Trek will also be a stupid action movie that pretends to be far deeper than it really is?
 
Most of them didn't pretend to be deep at all, which is good. The only one I know that thought it was the deepest shit was ST6, and it mostly pulled it off. ST9 thought maybe it could be deep, but it threw that away and went for the evil villain... so, no, not like a Star Trek movie.

Star Trek movies rarely end with monologues by a secondary character about why the film was called what it was... sometimes, like in ST:TMP, the closing monologue is actually pretty ambiguous, which is fantastic... and the bad guy on Star Trek never claims that he is a bad guy because the universe deserves a good bad guy... because that is stupid...

So yeah, no, not like most star trek.

It did, and so do the fans who pretend that it is an extremely "thought provoking show with deep philosophical blah blah" stuff.
