A British historical fantasy series co-produced by Sky and Amazon, Britannia focuses on a conflict between Romans and Celts in ancient Britain. It aired on Sky Atlantic in the UK earlier this year, and the entire season was recently added to Amazon Prime in the US. Noteworthy cast members include The Walking Dead's David Morrisey, Star Wars' Ian McDiarmid, Pirates of the Carribean's Mackenzie Crook, and Doctor Who's Zoe Wanamaker.
Here's Amazon Prime's trailer:
I watched the first episode last night, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a lot more stylized than I was expecting, but that was actually a big plus for me. I was surprised by how anachronistically modern the dialogue felt, but I already could tell from the bits I'd read online and the trailers that this didn't seem to really be going for historical accuracy.
The only really significant thing I've seen Ian McDiarmid in before was Star Wars, and with Palpatine being such a memorable character it was especially weird seeing him play a different character.
The relationship between Cait, and the outcast seems like it could end up being a highlight of the series.
The Druids are definitely creepy.
EDIT: Crap, can a mod fix the title for me. That was supposed to be Britannia - Amazon Prime/Sky series.
