I forgot to thank you for posting this. That was Andrews original premise for the dderidex, right? The vertical ship design. And that's one of his SOTL images, right? I had no clue that was also Tomalak's Fist, that's a huge ship
Well, I didn't actually expect anyone to take that seriously, but it's both amusing and touching that someone has!
I loved Indistinguishable From Magic and was head over heels in like with Geordi getting put center stage for a change.
I was saddened to learn that there was even a question raised of whether it was "in" or "out" of continuity but that seems to have been addressed several times thus far by most authors and affirmed in the positive. (At least I think this is still true)
Anyways, as many others have said... I too believed that IFM was an attempt to create a parallel SCE series featuring Captain Geordi LaForge of the USS Challenger and simultaneously being a way of reintroducing the SCE concept to TNG/DS9/Titan Readers eventually to feature the return of the USS DaVinci and Captain Sonya Gomez and company (Who have been sorely missed these past many years!).
Seriously, I've Loving the Department of Temporal Investigations Stuff, Mack's new Section 31 stuff sounds great, Seekers looks like a heck of a lot of fun, DS9 seems to be set to move forward (although I'd really like to see them address the Ascendants Arc...Bring back Marco!!!) and Voyager is doing pretty well too while Una McC has got the Cardassians well in hand.
The only things we're really missing are SCE, and more of Krad's Magical Klingon Charisma.
Really wish Whoever is in charge over at Pocket realizes that Trek Lit needs back a few authors that have been cold shouldered.

For those wondering, it's a lesser-known one, being a Space: 1999 novel, rather than Dr Who or Trek...
How does one approach a Space: 1999 novel? The two seasons were so very different -- I've just finished rewatching the series, and it's like they were in alternate realities from one another. Do you choose one season or the other, or do you try to reconcile their continuity and styles?
I basically went for blending the best elements from both styles into a new tone for what was basically the opener of a prose season three.
I'm curious, what did you count as the best elements of each season? And did you stick with the season 2 cast, or did you resurrect any of the missing season 1 characters like Dr. Bergmann? (I'd be interested to see how Bergmann and Maya would get along, although I guess they filled the same role in a lot of ways, so using them both might be redundant.)
The publisher/editor and I both took the view that the best elements would be the sense of wonder and the philosophical universe from the first season, and the action side of the second season.
There are some resurrections/reappearances, including of Main Mission, but it also had to fit into an arc run by the publisher, so I didn't get to do anything re: Victor.
Too bad about Victor, but yay, Main Mission! A much better set than the ugly Command Center of season 2.
