I liked the casual world building, dropping hints about history of the world and how things have developed so far such as.
- Orc choose the wrong side 2000 years ago
- most brights are elves,
- elves are the upper class
- the 'Feds' can/do have techniques and technologies to deal with Brights and Wands.
- What exactly are fairies?![]()
A regular buddy cop movie?Different from what?
A regular buddy cop movie?
A movie based on a best selling book or comic?
A movie with a $90 million budget that gets released to theaters?
A movie with orcs and other fantasy creatures set in a time period similar to the middle ages?
True, it's a mash up of a Tolkienesque World with a Cop story in modern times.Hmm...really, looks like most of those, in a blender.
I noticed two other things.
a) The various wall graffiti, at the movie introduction, indicate that the Dark Lord is an elf.
b) Jakoby mentions that an orc called Jirak united the nine armies and defeated the Dark Lord.
Maybe there were Elves and Orcs that fought for and against the Dark Lord.

For me that is enough of a novelty to call it "something different".
That does not make it a brilliant movie, but I dont regret the time spent watching it.
