Brian Brophy didn’t return?

Popular speculation about Icheb's recasting and fate is that it was a reaction to the fact Manu Intiraymi is, not exactly a good person these days, to be polite about it.

Indeed.

But it should be noted that Manu eventually apologized for what he'd said (he was questioning Anthony Rapp's allegations against Kevin Spacey) and Rapp immediately accepted the apology without question. So the whole recasting thing was basically pointless. :sigh:

Apologizing after the fact doesn't change the fact that it was an inappropriate thing to say in the first place. But regardless, Intiraymi's less than pleasant personality traits were well known long before he said insulting things about Anthony Rapp, that was just the most heavily publicized. He has in the past made slanderous and baseless comments about Jeri Ryan and even on at least one occasion got kicked out of a convention in which he was one of the advertised guests.

Dude is not a nice guy no matter how you look at it.

Then one would think that casting Intiraymi as Icheb just to kill him off would be more of a fuck-you than casting some unknown guy.

But then again, that’s exactly what they did with Del Arco, so maybe that isn’t such a good idea.

Not really a spoiler but tagged just in case since someone complained even though no characters, actors, or plot points were named.
What's the world coming to? We get an appeaance from... someone notoriously difficult to get back onto Trek but not Brian Brophy...

A holo of Brian Brophy is what the baddies used to distract the advanced AI guarding Daystrom Station. It’d normally be pissed, but it’s just happy to have met a holo of Brian Brophy.

The real Maddox who looks like Brian Brophy is still out there. Borg Queen Jurati, still guilty over her mind-meld induced murder of Maddox, replaced Maddox with an imperfect clone (thus he didn't quite look right) between Measure of a Man and Picard, cementing the stable time loop where the real Maddox was never the one actually killed..
