Rumored since May, director Brett Ratner has finally confirmed that he is attached to direct the God of War movie in an interview with UGO.

Universal Pictures secured the movie rights to the popular video game created by Sony Computer Entertainment back in the summer of 2005. Mosaic Media Group's Charles Roven and Alex Gartner were announced as producers at the time.

Set in ancient Greece, the game follows the battles of the warrior Kratos, who tackles mythological beasts including Medusa, Cyclops and the Hydra. Players navigate Kratos on his quest to find Pandora's Box and destroy Ares, the god of war.

DAMMIT! The rat has gotten his hands on GOW!:(

You guys have low standards. :p

I'd say the reverse actually! I do not expect movies based on video games to be good. So I don't see them at all. So if Ratner must be making bad movies, he might as well make movies that were going to be bad anyways. :p

Was I clearer that time? ;)

You know, a GoW movie was going to just be Kratos stabbing monsters for two hours no matter what. As long as Ratner doesn't try to add a hip hop soundtrack and make the Ghost of Sparta time travel to South Central LA and learn life lessons, I don't see Ratner doing too terribly.

here's the film in it's entireity

*slash, slash, titties, slash a giant, slash a goddess, roll credits*

So, David Jaffe posted a video response to all the Ratner haters on his blog... he went after Kotaku commenters in particular.
