News Brent Spiner Returned for "Picard" (and you could do the CGI better in 15 minutes, we get it)

The point is that it's supposed to be past/TNG Data, not "present" 2399/2402 Data. If they didn't kill him off in Nemesis and he was playing current Data they would more than likely just age him up a bit, and that would be totally fine.
But the Data is not supposed to have aged yet. He's supposed to be the same Data that we have seen A LOT of for seven years. That's why it's a problem.
I know

I think it looks odd because 30 years ago his face was thinner and worked well with the hair. Now, his face is fatter and the hairline makes it look very round and doesn't work at all?

Just remember kids, in this brave new world, this is the way Data always looked.

As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if CBS does anything to Data that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Reputation of CBS (I’ve done before!).

Data is the only sticking point for me in the trailer. He looks awful.
If they could digitally de-age and slim him down, like SLJ for Captain Marvel, i'd be willing to give it a pass. As they showed - he does not look like Data. At all.

What horrible things could CBS do to Data's arc that the TNG movies didn't already accomplish?

There are only so many ways to make a 70 year old look like a 40 year old....

But Sam Jackson really is ageless.

I know what happened with Data:

The new costume and make-up designers messed up Data's new wig. Brent Spiner said "Hey, I still have my old wig and uniform. I brought it with just in case." And they went with that.

If the "it's just how Picard sees him in his dreams" thing doesn't work, then we can just chalk it up in the same department as an outright recasting. "The part of Data is now being played by a much older Brent Spiner."

Or "they'll clean it up in post". Bit late, isn't it?

It's a trailer, so an advertisement. That means you should put more effort into it not less, because you're telling people "this is what you'll be getting" . So if you fail to wow them here, you might turn off potential viewers.
They've been putting unfinished special effects in trailers for ages at this point.
Data's face seems bigger than Brent actually looked at SDCC in July. is it the makeup?
Glad to see it's not just me. The Data in the trailer not only doesn't looks like Brent Spiner back in the day, it doesn't look like Brent Spiner today.
