Breaking Bad without Jesse

So there is definitely going to be a 4th season? I really hope they don't stretch this show too thin.

Honestly, I could do without him. I think Aaron Paul does a great job, but I'm a bit spent on the whole "yo" and "bitch" shtick. I'm sure the writers are plenty capable of keeping him useful, but I could really take it either way.

After seeing the preview of next episode, the feeling that Jesse will die at the end of this season is building up even more. Either Jesse dies at the end of the season or the creators of the show have one hell of a twist up their sleeves to believably postpone Jesse's demise. Either way, I think Walt's going to kill someone in cold blood and not getting away with the excuse of self-defense or letting someone die without touching them.

Jesse is better than likable, he is believable, in a situation that could really be in the real world, making choices that are relevant to our lives. In other words, Jesse's not cool, he's interesting.

That said, the structural integrity of the continuing storyline says someone has to go. Substituting an airplane full of strangers didn't quite cut it. Hank's out of the picture, and Walter Junior could fulfill the role of final sacrifice even better than son-surrogate Jesse. Sorry, Aaron, it's time. Just wish you'd gotten the Emmy before you went.

I think the show could survive, if they made Gus more of a main focus character, but the show is such a tight knit show, that losing one of it's 6 original leads is a bit rough to overcome

I can't say for sure if it will ever come to Jesse getting killed. They certainly are flirting with it. Without a doubt, in these last two episodes, of this season, be ready for a gut busting twist of some kind, & death/murder just has to be involved.

Walt is far beyond needing Jesse's limited criminal talents. Jesse's not going to grow as an evil mastermind, he hasn't got the heart for it, plus he's not that much brighter off the drugs. Gustavo is ideally situated to take on the Jesse role as introduction to (higher echelons of) crime. Except Walt rationalizes away what Gustavo's really like, because he has a quiet, refined demeanor, instead of raving like a maniac.

Walt's not a teacher any more, he doesn't need a student like Jesse.

Yes, Gustavo is ideal for a central character, plus some expansion of Saul and Jonathan Banks' character (I've forgotten his name, if I ever caught it.)

If Jesse does die at the end of Season 3, then I think Season 4 will revolve around Walt vs. Gus possibly ending with Walt becoming the new Gus at the end.
