Brands that were once popular....

Pepsi bought those old names (A&W, LJS) and combined them with Taco Bells, KFC's, etc.

I like the LJS/KFC combos best because they let you choose from the KFC sides when ordering a LJS family meal.
The LJS/Taco Bell in Fayetteville lets me get chicken planks with nachos on the side. :D

I was not around then, but my family members who enjoyed Long John Silvers in the 70s find the current incarnation disgusting.

Yum! Brands actually sold off the A&W and LJS brands a couple of years ago, as I recall.

I've only ever liked their chicken planks, so I can't really judge: those, as far as I can tell, haven't changed. :techman:
We had a Fuddruckers in Charlotte (NC) decades ago. They are long gone.
We have one in Myrtle Beach, always looks packed.
I was in there last fall. There's also one just down the road from my office in Columbia.
I'm in Atlanta for a Microsoft Server 2012 boot camp this week, and it turns out there's a Fuddruckers like a BLOCK from my hotel here - I just hadn't ventured out in that direction yet!

They must have an agreement to keep the two-fers open then, which I'm glad about. Like I said, the LJS/KFC is my personal favorite.

I see where Yum! was spun off from Pepsi before they bought LJS and A&W. I thought it was Pepsi all along.

On Long Island there was this cool little stand alone food court. It had, Subway, Nathan's Hot Dogs, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Sabarro Pizza, Arthur Treachers and Carvel Ice Cream. It also had a little game room in back.

I miss Woolworth's. Don't remember it too well because I was still pretty young when ours closed but I really liked the way they smelled from the lunch counter.

My city has a former Woolworth's building. I think it's now offices inside. But the exterior is kept nice and still has the Woolworth's signage. The display windows have art displays which periodically showcase different local artists.

I remember Woolworth when I was a kid. By then they did away with the lunch counters. I remember the JCPenney and the Liberty House having lunch counters. Back to Woolworth, I spent a lot of allowance and birthday money in there. I remember when closed down for good, the last thing I bought from them was a Twix bar.

We also had a Shakey's near my house, but they vanished a few months ago. We found out ironically on the same day we were going to Shakey's to eat.

I really liked Surge Cola when I was in High School. It was discontinued but relaunched as Vault Cola. I guess it's not really a forgotten brand though, as I just read that it's being relaunched this month. So maybe tomorrow I'll take a trip out to the store to see if they have it.

http://www.surge.com/ has a map

And it says you can still get it on Amazon.

When I was a kid back in the 60s, I thought the Flying A gas stations were the coolest because of the winged "A" logo.
