Braga Question that may require a private response

Hi,

I usually don't pay attention to what is said regarding TPTB; however, I recently spent an evening with a bunch of hardcore fans at a local bar. They made allusions to a party Braga had when he was dating Jeri Ryan, a book by a man named Greenwald, and a Details magazine interview referring to unspeakable acts of debauchery, and Braga being an abusive person who is a collector of violent porn.

I won't repeat the other things I was told because it is inappropriate for the board. Also, I could't get many details as these guys were drinking. But if someone is familiar with the references made, could you please fill me in? I'm not really sure if what was said is true. My own web search turned up little.

But who's Greenwald? I don't recall a mention of any greenwald.

It is a different story involving not Jack Ryan, but Brannon Braga. Acording to these guys, supposedly while he was dating Ryan, Braga had a party described as "orgiastic." A man named Greenwald included the story in his Trek book. The guys said Greenwald stated Braga is obsessed with violent porn, and things that are much worse than what is in those divorce papers happened. I won't mention what they said happened. I don't know if they were yanking my chain, or telling the truth.
 
I have to say in my many hours of googling I've never seen a bad word said about Braga the person except by die hard trek fans and even then very few say bad things about the man it's his work they tend to attack.

Whether it's true or not (I don't know) why should it matter? Really? His private life should be his own business as long as anyone involved was there with full consent and none of them were minors or people of reduced mental capacity. I'd just concern yourself with what ends up in his TV shows. There's plenty of horror in that to keep you occupied :)
 
Look for a book called Future Perfect: How Star Trek Conquered the Planet Earth. Jeff Greenwald is the book's author, I believe. One of Braga's debauched Hollywood parties is described therein.
 
Future Perfect does indeed detail the somewhat liberal sex life that Brannon Braga was apparently enjoying, and willingly revealed, to Jeff Greenwald around the time of the production of Star Trek: First Contact (around 1995-1996). Nothing in the book suggests anything illegal; it simply notes that Braga had a very liberal sex life and occasionally hosted orgies. Hardly "unspeakable acts."
