Braga is, it seems, STILL an idiot!

He aknowledges his failure on the writing of TATV.
He still asserts his intent with the episode and admits the story was lackluster.
He misses Star Trek and wishes it well with the new people that are running it now.

I don't see the problem here.

Why must we always make it one?

number6 has it right. Braga admits to his mistakes, said he would have moved on from the Trek franchise even if Enterprise had been renewed...so, what's the problem here, exactly?

He's been TOLD repeatedly why fans hated his "valentine", but he refuses to listen. Besides, common frakking sense should have told him you DON'T hijack one show's characters by telling a story focusing on ANOTHER show's characters in the frakking FINALE!

Read the story again but this time with an open mind and without your Braga hating blinkers. :)
This is the Trek BBS. You are asking the impossible.

hated TATV but mollified by Braga's admission it didn't go well. Don't love Ent any less for TATV and like Braga's overall take on Trek. Time to move on and put all the $ we can behind the Movie so CBS will develop more Trek projects! Three months people! :)

I did indeed read the whole article.

Braga admits the ep was f-ed up. He then goes on to say he can't figure out WHY it was.

The answer is as plain as the nose on one's face: you DON'T do a series finale that focuses on characters FROM ANOTHER SHOW. You don't summarily kill off a popular character in a dumb way. You don't summarily kill off a character relationship that the ep IMMEDIATELY before had just firmly established.

How can a man be so dense as to NOT understand why that show and characters' fans would not be pleased by his doing that?

I wish I were as dense and idiotic as he was.

Id get to date J Ryan for a bit, write/produce hundreds of hrs of Trek shows, and exec produce 24. Sounds pretty successful to me.

OK, maybe I'm asking for too much, but he really owes us a huge "mia culpa" on this. He needs to flat out and out say:

"The holodeck and the TNG stars was just wrong of me"
"Killing Trip was a real bad idea and a slap in the face to the fans"
"Not concentrating on the founding of the federation for the final episode was a mistake"
"I admit that our ending Trip & T'Pol's romance for no good reason was really a middle finger pointed at the fans"

That's the only way he can honestly say he owned up to his mistakes.

Seconded! :techman:

He really does kind of sound like he misses Star Trek. At that convention appearance he had this strange sense of finality, as if he were 100% he'd never be involved with it again, but maybe since then he's started missing it a bit and would be somewhat open to the possibility.

Anyway, he seems sorry enough for the fan dislike of TATV that I think people ought to let it go.

i couldn't disgree more. The last thing this new TREK movie series needs is some Television show sharing the spotlight. It will no doubt lead to using the sets on the TV series, which does nothing but send a signal to Joe-Q public that the movies are just TWO episodes, but at the movies. (Which is what most of TREK movies do feel like, especially the later ones...warmed over TV scripts)...

So...CBS..listen up..NO TREK SERIES!!!

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! HE NEEDS TO ADMIT HE OWES THE FANS A MEA MAXIMA CULPA!!! AND HE SHOULD SEND EACH FAN REPARATIONS FOR WHAT HE DID, MAYBE ABOUT $20 EACH, 'CAUSE WE BEEN WRONGED!!! AND HE NEEDS TO GO TO THE TOP OF THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING AND SHOUT TO THE WORLD FOR 24 HOURS STRAIGHT THAT HE F'ED US OVER, AND HIS LIFE IS NOT WORTH LIVING ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THAT!!! AAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Oh crap, ran out of the Kool-Aid.

OK, calming down now. Wow, that was four years ago, need to let that go. Moving on.

Hey!! He's doing 24!

TATV sucked majorly, but at the risk of being flamed to a crisp for saying this: does it matter anymore? Braga has stepped down from Trek, and so has Berman. I couldn't care less if he gets it or not, since he won't be part of the creative process of the franchise anymore.

^
I dunno which board you've been posting on, since most of the folks I've run into here agree that the weak link in both series were Berman and Braga. Especially after the last episode of enterprise. :shrugs:
