Bradley Walsh is more famous than Jodie

If anyone wants to check out Walsh’s acting ability, watch The Sarah Jane Adventures: The Day of the Clown.

Catherine Tate was also probably better known than Tennant, at least in the UK, and she worked out just fine despite my misgivings about her casting. I also have misgivings about Walsh but I'll reserve judgement until I see how he performs. The stunt casting of Hale and Pace, however, was a jarring inclusion during the McCoy era but at least they weren't onscreen for very long.
I think the Catherine Tate parallel is a good one.

In addition to three Doctors, a companion, and a Torchwood member, Broadchurch also has Meera Syal, the scientist from Doctor Who's "The Hungry Earth"/"Cold Blood," as a judge in season 2. It also has Hot Fuzz's Olivia Colman as its female lead, Agent Carter's James D'Arcy and Blindspot's Marianne Jean-Baptiste as regulars in season 2, Georgina Campbell of the upcoming Krypton series as a police constable in season 3 (I was wondering where I'd seen her name before), plus Sarah Parish and Peter de Jersey of the 2014 Atlantis TV series in recurring roles (if anyone cares about that).

As for Attack the Block, it's not only a good movie, but it feels like it could easily take place in the Doctor Who universe, albeit the darker side of it like we see in Torchwood and Class. (And did I mention that Legends of Tomorrow's Franz Drameh is in it too?)

Couldn’t get past the opening of Attack the Block. They filmed on an actual estate that has/had problems with gang crime, assault etc. That made the whole concept seem tone deaf to people who grew up round there or places like it. I was never gonna accept a mugger as a protagonist, so gave up on it. That’s peoples life experience, not something to be mined in a parody a few years after they start knocking the estate down.

Re: Attack the Block...

It's revealed later on that John Boyega's character is not really a mugger; he's a kid who's younger than he looks and has been abandoned. He's a much more sympathetic character than he initially seems to be.

Do they show The Chase in Oz? Seems an odd choice to import a quiz show that presumably contains a lot of references to popular Brit culture.
We do have The Chase here in Oz but it's a local version with a different host and people involved. So I'd never heard of Bradley Walsh before he was cast. Jodie Whittaker I had seen in Broadchurch and it's quite possible a fair percentage of Doctor Who fans have at least checked out that show since it also stars David Tennant (the only reason I started watching it).

The British version of The Chase is aired at 3PM in Australia. The Australian version is at 5PM.

Between them, you can flick over to ABC for Pointless.

Fortunately I'm at work and not home in time to see either version, as the few minutes I've seen online seemed like annoying drivel.
