I would like to get in touch with Brad Hathaway, if that's at all possible.
Okay - so I had a USS Hathaway parody video on my Youtube channel, it's been there for 4 years and he decided this morning to get it taken down as copyright infringing material.
Frankly I'd forgotten I had the video up, as it's been that long since anyone commented on it anyway.
I'm nothing if not a reasonable person - if he had contacted me privately and asked for the video to be taken down, I'd have done it in under 5 minutes flat, and the offer still stands.
I need to get in contact with him and that explain that copyright strikes on Youtube do not go away, and a copyright takedown is overkill. If he withdraws his copyright complaint I'll take the video down immediately.
I want to, more than anything else, appeal to his decency. I make a fan series myself, and admittedly it's very lousy. My parody of Hathaway was not meant to be insulting; if he knew me personally he would know it was just a good natured poke. The copyright strike is an overreaction and I'd like to sort this out amicably as soon as possible.
I also would like to sincerely apologise if he took offense at the video - it was honestly as much a reference to my own fan-movies as to his. In hindsight, I did not make it obvious enough that the video was just a joke. I hope we can talk about this sometime soon and get it resolved.
