Bozo is dead

RIP Mr. Harmon...I also grew up with you and your many licensed Boze-a-likes.

What do you call one dead clown?

A good start.

Actually, if it weren't for seeing the Bozo show on WGN, I would not have understood what Krusty the Clown was making fun of.

Bozo was at least a tollerable clown. And not a scary/creepy clown.

I thought so as well. There is a Mary Tyler Moore dead clown joke somewhere.

Bozo, Bozo, always smiles, never frowns... Bozo, Bozo, Bozo the Clown!

Thanks for all the fun in my youth, Mr. Harmon, and RIP. I not only loved your show when I was little, I also had lots of fun bopping you in the nose and watching you pop back up for some more!

I watched Bozo the Clown all of the time when I was a kid. Man It's really sad when the people you watched as a kid star dying. Mr. Rogers, The Chief, Sherry Lewis, and now Bozo (granted all those were years ago, but still another staple of my youth gone.)

R.I.P. :(

I was not a viewer of his TV show, but Bozo is indirectly responsible for a great childhood memory. I was playing the SNES Wheel of Fortune game with one of my best friends, and Bozo the Clown was the answer to the puzzle. It was my turn, and we were down to "G" and "Z" with Bo_o the Clown filled in. I picked the wrong letter, and Bogo the Clown is now a source of much friendly teasing with my family and friends. RIP Bozo.

If you grew up in the Midwest, you probably watched Bob Bell or Joey D'Auria (due to WGN's proliferation as a superstation). In any event, the passing of a pioneering entertainer is sad news, indeed.

Probably many thought he was already dead because the Bozo they're familiar with was portrayed by Bob Bell on WGN, who died in 1997: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0068065/bio. Apparently he was one of many to whom Larry Harmon licensed the character; but he was the most successful of the Bozo "clones", and the one that I grew up with.

Enough mourning--It's time for the GRAND! PRIZE!! GAME!!!

Yeah, chances are if you watched Bozo as a kid, it wasn't him. As the article says, the character was licensed to many stations. When I was really little in the late 70s, I was on the Orlando, Florida version of the show. I lost on that game where you pass the ticking bomb around, remember being pissed. And I doubt they would let kids even play that these days.
