What I noticed when I was working in children's centres a few years back was a bit of a trend for changing the spelling of male names to what could be considered female names so that the child would have a uniquely spelled name. The one that springs to mind is Marli in place of Marley. The irony is that in one baby clinic there were two male babies with the different spelling. So much for unique. In that neighbourhood there were also at least a dozen children of both sexes called Harley.
