Boy trapped in homemade balloon...

Well, the air at 8,000 feet isn't too thin, so if the kid stays put and the balloon holds together he should be all right. But how do you go about getting someone down from that sort of situation? Using another balloon is the only method I can think of.

Helicopter + marksman = popped balloon :shifty:

He better take a picture of himself up there.

Traveling at 25 mph at 8500 feet.

If left alone it more than likely will begin a slow decent, it's just a matter of how long that will be. The linked web site listed 12 hours.

Hypothermia is a concern at this time of year and at altitude.

CNN just sid that it can't be confirmed that he's in there or not; no one of knowing if he was in there when it broke free. Plus the side door on the thing is open, so if he was in there when it lifted off he might not be now.

the video is making me dizzy just watching, can only imagine how he must feel
It's not spinning. The effect is from the news helicopters revolving around it.
