Why have these stalkers not been arrested is what I wanna know. Surely there's ways of tracing these people.![]()
The guys that know how to trace others aren't going to allow themselves to be traced first of all. Secondly, you're talking about people numbering in the thousands and located all over the planet. Thirdly, the people that get raided usually have their personal information as a matter of public record. Retreiving easy-to-guess passwords aside, most people just dont think, "Gee whiz. Plastering all my contact information on three different blogs may not be such a grand idea after all." So as much as one may want to, you really can't nail them on that score. And even if they didn't do that, data mining isn't illegal to the best of my knowledge.
Bottom line, all you could really nail Anonymous for would be harassment. And since the vast majority of it is done on-line, and done by so many people across the nation working in tandem, harassment laws are difficult if not impossible to enforce. With that being said, the best thing for people to do is to wise up and resist the temptation to plaster their eccentricities on every corner of the web lest they make themselves a target for this sort of thing.
