Anyone else been on youtube and learnt about the member called boxxy? (heres one of her vids)
Apparently in January she put 3 vids up on youtube and because she's such a crazy chick a group of people hacked her e-mail and youtube accounts to take her videos down and put their own up telling her to never make any more videos again. In order to hack her accounts they did password retrieval and managed to do that by actually going out of their way to find out real life information about her in order to answer her security questions, similar to what happened to Palin.

The Internet is a crazy place.

Those security questions are more like a security loophole. You have unhackable 20 character passwords as a random jumble of both letters and numbers, and then to retrieve your password should you forget it, they ask "what is your favourite colour?"... That I could never guess.

My work email lets up choose our own security questions. I mean, "mother's maiden name" and "name of first school" are so unimaginative and easy to determine. I prefer making up my own questions, not only because only I know the answer, but also because I would be the only person in the world to even consider asking myself such a question. If that makes any sense at all...

I never fill those password retrieval questions in, or if I do, then I just put 20 more random letters and numbers. So if I forget a password, then it's gone forever.

Hmm. Interesting strategy. Of course, I'd make sure my random alphanumeric sequence was memorable... to me, anyway. (I'm no good at making up random stuff... )

Before I decide whether i'm for or against the pro BOXXY faction, I must say that the 4chan site is reckless, suspiciously open, and full of brilliant technical brains looking for that next missile silo to hack and launch. if they can upload a photo of you standing on the grassy knoll with a sniper rifle in your hand it will be because they slipped you LSD and mancurian candidated you during a 4chan visit. That Photo sure as twig wont be a fake.
