First off..I'm not cussing. And second, I'm only stating the obvious that he (JJ) is trying to make popular movies. And if he thinks Khan will be a money maker, he will do it.

You and I both have ideas as to what should come next. I'm trying to tell you that they don't really care what we, as fans of Trek, think in the long run. Like GR, and then Berman, JJ now has control. He wants to make crowd pleasing movies, and if he thinks he should explore new worlds, he will...or if he thinks Khan will work he will go that way...but in the end? its his decision to make.

Oh..and I think exploring a strange new world is the wrong way to go. I will be honest with that. Khan, the first time around, was about the ethics of the Genesis device...so even that movie, the great movie that I think it was, didn't explore new worlds; it explored a new idea. And that is totally STAR TREK too...

The Joker is the iconic villain in the Batman franchise. Star Trek's iconic villain is not a person, but an entire race. Wouldn't the Klingons be the logical villain in Trek XII? And it would not require much explaining, since everyone knows who Klingons are (see BK Kingon advertising campaign).

Yep, you may want that, and that is cool. I don't, so there. But, as I stated from the start? It isn't up to us to decide. And saying things like "I'm not going to the next movie if he doesn't do it MY way" is...well...you can fill in the blank.

I will go no matter how the next movie comes out. And, even if they do Khan, dispite your words here? You will still go. And you, and I, and anyone else reading this thread, knows it.

Remaking Khan as the second movie would be a major league, fanboyish, limitied poin of view MISTAKE.

They spent this entire first movie setting us up for something NEW. In fact, they went to great lengths to remake prequel universe rules to avoid the trappings of other prequel universes.

Anyone who is looking for a Khan remake is seriously missing probably the biggest point of the new universe.

IT IS SET UP FOR SOMETHING NEW. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

Sure, you could throw Khan in there, or bring in Shatner or the Borg or whatever...but that would be a real misstep.

And the original poster is a complete tard and I ain't bowing to anything.

Thanks Dobler. And that Joker comparison is really good. And the best part? Just like the Joker, regular people don't really need to be educated about the KHan/Kirk connection.

The nay-sayers will say that the reason Kirk/khan worked the first time was due to the relationship that stretched back 15+ years. They might even find khan in 12, he tries to take over the ship, and then he escapes..only to come back and get his revenge in trek 13..

It kind of reminds me of Godzilla, in a weird way. No matter how many times they reboot Godzilla, he always ends up fighting some newer version of Mechagodzilla...why? Because that is Godzilla's prime arch-enemy (him or Ghidora, who also always shows up in any reboot)

and until wrath khan sorta blended into the background of the series/
i mean he was supposed to be this super strong genuis who got out witted
pretty damn easily and beaten up by kirk.

while i have had almost too much klingons kor was a more interesting
opponent for kirk but i dont need to see him in a movie.

and if they do khan they may be making a big mistake because they may lose a lot of the new fans.

Honestly now that's a ridiculous notion and insulting to JJ and team.

Judging by the new movie they know what they are doing.

They pulled off a legit Trek movie (a movie about Kirk and Spock, first and foremost) and wrapped it in some nice looking action.

They can do that again. Exploring new worlds ( or ideas) does not mean they can't do glitzy action as well. Give them some credit. Resurrection of INSURRECTION, indeed! Sheesh.

They avoided the reset button, so Ill bet they won`t rehash Khan yet again`and make a remake of a sequel.

I don't know what you thought you were about here, but it suffers from severe conceptual fail.
