I work at an NPR affiliate public radio station as an audio engineer. One of my main duties is to play the various shows to air. On today's Fresh Air, the did a feature on the last episode of Boston Legal, and played Spader's speech to the new Chinese owners, commenting that Spader had many long speeches like that throughout the series and that actors just don't talk for that long in any other show.
It had me on the floor. "Smile, group!"
I, not a fan of lawyer shows generally (Eli Stone being the notable exception), hadn't been watching Boston Legal during its run... but it appears I'm going to have to catch it on DVD. I saw about half of the last episode and what I saw combined with what I heard today on the radio tells me there's something special that I've just plain missed!

^^ Spader (aka Alan Shore) had the most amazing closing arguments in trials. They will leave your sides aching from laughter. He threw zingers out there with ease all while maintaining a deadpan expression. Pure gold.
Loved the fact that Danny and Alan got married
but wished we had seen pool and the crazy old judge one last time.

Yeah, you'd think they'd have brought Edwin Poole in for some of the big decisions being made in the finale. Then again, given how Denny and Shirley reacted to the Chinese, Edwin's absence probably saved Paul from having a total meltdown. 
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who missed Judge Sanders during the final season. Ah, to have heard him admonish Alan to not "jibber-jabber" one last time...

, myself I will prob not replace it with another monday show, Chuck seems ok but I doubt it has a long life to offer.
Like most NBC shows, for that matter.
