"Guardians and Gatekeepers" - After Denny Crane almost dies from toxic shock due to his unintended misuse of an arsenal of prescription drugs, Alan Shore takes on a pharmaceutical company for employing deceptive advertising to scare people into using their products. Meanwhile, Shirley Schmidt asks Carl Sack to defend her cheeky 17-year-old granddaughter who's been arrested for voting in the primary with falsified records, and Jerry Espenson and Katie Lloyd sue a private detention facility after a 15-year-old girl is raped by a guard, on "Boston Legal," MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Guest starring are Henry Gibson as Judge Clark Brown, James Rebhorn as Wade Mathis, Christopher Rich as Attorney Melvin Palmer, Allison Miller as Marlena Hoffman, Roma Maffia as Judge Victoria Peyton, Don McManus as A.D.A. John Lennox, Francesca P. Roberts as Judge Jamie Atkinson, David Bowe as Jeffrey Addario, Bradford English as CEO Michael Ryder and Cas Anvar as Dr. Paul Harris.
Yay! Judge Clark ("Shocking! SHOCKING!") Brown is back!

Boo! Melvin ("You're a hoot!") Palmer is back. I'm really sick of that guy.

I gave this one a "good." The two main cases were excellent — especially Jerry trying to out-Melvin Melvin Palmer during a cross-examination — but Alan suing Big Pharma on Denny's behalf just seemed tacked on and tiresome. It's like David E. Kelley was going down his checklist and realized Alan hadn't had a big rant this week, so let's shoehorn one in there.

Nice acknoweldgement of the show's upcoming demise during the balcony scene. "Isn't there another time slot they can try us out in?"

And I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed this, but does it look like they're finally moving in the direction of pairing up Jerry and Katie romantically?

Excellent; however, Shirley's grand-daughter is a little pompous twit.

Jerry was killing me (gimme two pops if I'm right *pop* *pop*). I'm thinking Jerry and Katie hook up.

Excellent episode and once again probes why this is my favourite show on TV (keeps switching yearly with House). Jerry was amazing in court and surly he's winning over those fans who dislike him for being different.

All the cases were fantastic today but the Balcony scene was the icing on the cake as normal and BL deserves to go out with a full season, ABC grow some IQ points and add some final episodes to the final season.

I dislike Jerry, I will continue disliking him. He has run his course but is someone still on the show when more interesting characters have come and gone.

I rather they have kept the cross dresser and his girlfriend.

Why do you dislike him, is it because of the way he acts ? which is not the characters fault since its a illness.

Mind you, I haven't done a thorough search of the board, but I'm trying to remember anything that bigdaddy has admitted to liking, and it's just not coming to me.

I loved Denny's "I know I won't be alone at the end." Nice contrast to "I've always known I'd die alone," from the Shat-man's other great character! :rommie:

How about you look some more because that's a very ignorant statment considering BL is one of my favorite shows, season 1-3 are best. Jerry should have never been allowed to have come back. Even for BL what he did and the fact they rehired him was too much.

And Denny has "mad cow" and I think his character is fantasic.

I'm hoping there'll be physical repercussions of Denny getting off those "30 or 40" daily meds.

It could easily be explained that THEY are the reason he's acting so weird (yes, I know he had an actual diagnosis, but the cross-meds could easily be accenting his problem).

Good episode. And it was a nice change to see Larroquette in court -- y'know, actually doing something other than reacting to the office shenanigans. :)
