On the season premiere episode, "Smoke Signals," Bethany Horowitz asks Alan Shore to help her out with a case against a large tobacco company. But when it turns out that the defense attorney is Phoebe Prentice (Ally Walker, "Profiler," "Tell Me You Love Me"), an old flame of Alan's, he finds himself distracted and fears that he won't be able to perform in court. Meanwhile, Denny is distraught over his own personal lack of performance in the bedroom.

Guest starring in "Smoke Signals" are Ally Walker as Attorney Phoebe Prentice, Meredith Eaton as Bethany Horowitz, William Daniels as Judge Milton Brody, Wendy Gazelle as Maureen Rhodes, Philip Newby as Dr. Harvey Loper and Paul Collins as Lance Buttram. The episode was written by David E. Kelley and directed by Bill D'Elia.
So it looks like in addition to Saffron Burrows leaving (which we already knew from last season), they've dumped Taraji P. Henson (no great loss; her character never really went anywhere) and Gary Anthony Williams (who I will miss, though they hadn't done anything with Clarence in a while either).

On the other hand, we do get William Daniels as an addition to the parade of judges.

i'm glad i saw this thread, i had no idea the premiere was tonight. when did it move to Mondays?

thanks a lot for the excellent advertising, ABC!

I am so happy that the season premiere is finaly here. And am also happy that it is on monday nights (atleast for now), it will definitly make it easier for me to see it, since I work tuesday nights till after 9pm and takes me over 45minutes to get home.
I am disapointed to hear that this will be the final season.

Ah Damn! I have a test tomorrow I have to study for so I'll have to miss it. :( Damn you FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT!

Pretty good episode and Ally Walker still looks adorable. Anthony Daniels was a no-nonsense judge. The side story of Denny's "member" being out of order was OK and it will be interesting if he is going to live through the season (judging by next week's preview) as well as his constant falling asleep.

I loved the Alan and Denny interaction. And the two of them dancing with the Cheerleader outfit was priceless.

Well, I just spent 15 minutes writing a rant about the unbelievable silliness of Denny and how everyone on the show doesn't seem to care, but I must have timed out because when I went to post, I was somehow no longer logged in and my post was lost to oblivion. Suffice it to say:

-- Denny is somehow allowed to remain an unfunny, embarrassing buffoon hurting the rep of CP&S
-- Loved Alan unleashing his fury on Denny for the stupid ringtone gag, and his closing, in typical fashion, was fantastic.
