Borg Drone Shielding - WTF?

And on that note, given the lack of value that the Borg seem to place on any single drone, or even a cube full of drones, it's completely possible that they left themselves wide open to see what the most advanced Federation starship they had yet to come across could do. "Go ahead, give it your best shot".

The Borg shield doesn't seem to be any better than Federation (standard shields?). What the Borg have is regeneration that adapts to damage from incoming fire. The starship will burn away and explode external bulkheads of a Borg cube which are then regenerated in less than 1 minute. All sensors and technology inherent with the Borg bulkheads are intact. This was shown in 'First Contact'.
What is very exceptional are Borg nano-probes. They were shown to be very powerful. A few thousand that were taken from Seven of Nine were reprogrammed and used to destroy species 8472. Obviously, the nano-probes in the blood interact with the Borg drone's inner machinery to power-on shields around the drone. These do not fail from incoming personal phasor fire. In fact they do not require alot of power because they represent a more advanced technology.

Actually the only time Federation phasers vaporised sections of a Borg ship, was during 'Q Who'.
After that, phasers never had the same effect.
Sure, SF adapted their tech to compensate by the time of FC so the phasers would retain some of their initial advantage, but it would be a minimal effect for the most part.
