Borg and the Dream

Dryson

Commodore

"I wonder, are the Borg able to analyze dreams?"

The scientist says into the mic recorder tethered to a wall mounted device.

Picking up the holographic eye piece from the table, the scientist sits down at the table. The module is perfectly smooth, perfection created by millions of nano probes. The module would never rust, nor become a haven for bacteria or viruses that would nest in the fissures of traditionally surfaced metals.

"Computer."

"Yes?"

"Continue recording while I drift off to sleep." the scientist says placing the module on the tabletop.

"Understood."

Turning a dial and then pressing a few buttons, the bend the scientist is sitting on effortlessly transforms into a bed. Laying backside down on the bed, the scientist continues.

"The Borg strive for perfection in everything. The less-than-perfect dream leads to a less-than-perfect drone. Imperfect drones lead to an imperfect Collective. All living beings dream. It's how the Creator keeps the connection with life. Light is created, the eye takes in the light, along with the data from the Creator stored in the light. The brain of the creature then interprets and decodes the data and goes about satisfying the instructions in the dream. But why a cyborg type lifeform? Why would the encoded data from the Creator insist the life become Borg? To survive extremely harsh and life culling environments? To hide from something chasing the Borg who could be the first true life created? But how does the Borg convert the dream into a perfect state? Could the dream of the Borg be the key to finding the Borg's creator? A new life and perspective on the first few moments, after the Big Bang when life would not have survived without mechanical help. Is the Borg dream able to be mechanically aligned to open new doors and insights into places that the Borg have gone, that no humans have ever been before? What do the Borg dreams really contain?"
