Booster Gold (SyFy)

It seems like Syfy announces a ton of development pickups... and probably every other network does the same -- I don't know, I don't follow this stuff that closely.

But for those who do, about what % of the projects that Syfy announces actually make it to the pilot stage, and ultimately, to series?

My biggest problem with Booster is he has no rouges gallery to play off of. I am sure we could borrow some secondary villians from the DC universe to populate this but who to choose? There are a few time traveling Villians they could toss in and Per Degaton would be my number one choice. An end of season LSH cliffhanger appearance is almost a must. Will they dare to base him in Metropolis?

I don't know the exact %, but there is a lot of stuff that we hear about that doesn't make it past the pilot or script stage. So I wouldn't get any hopes up until we actually see at least a second or third episode of the show.

Booster Gold faces his darkest villain: The Pro-Bonoer!

Yeah Max and perhaps Checkmate could be the main series villains. You could introduce Rip Hunter later on and bring in Michael's sister as well.

Yeah they won't use Ted...the proposed Jaime Reyes "Blue Beetle" series seems to have crashed and burned. If any Blue Beetle shows up in the show it'll be him.

Yeah, I know. I miss Ted. I always liked Ted. He was great. I never liked the new incarnation of the Blue Beetle--not Jaime, but this idea of a battle armor that can do anything. Sorta boring.

I don't know anything about the character, but, with that premise write-up, and it being a SyFy possible show/movie, I would be surprised if they didn't go for an outrageous comedy. Would fans of the character be happy with that approach?

Booster Gold is a C-List DC comic book character and member of the Justice League. He's from the distant future (the 25th or 26th century, IIRC) and has traveled back to the present day.

Booster Gold is a regular human being but uses technology to give him Superman-like powers like strength, speed, and some degree on invulnerability. He's also in some interpretations "only in it for the money" and will take on endorsements and advertisements on his costume. Think of Greg Kinnear's character in Mystery Men.

It's not just that he uses tech from the future. He stole the tech. He was working as a night watchman at a science museum, where he liberated the tech, a time machine, and his security droid. I imagine an ongoing subplot could be someone from the future trying to track him down.

^ The Legion :) Since he steals a Legion ring as I mentioned before. That'd actually be pretty bad ass...Brainy sends the Espionage Squad!

He liberated the Tech, a Time Machine and a Security Droid, that sounds pretty heroic to me :D

Berlanti? The guy who wrote that Green Lantern bomb? He's still getting offers to develop superhero properties?

I wonder if Syfy has the chops for this kind of thing, then again, I'm not really sure what the channel's identity is anymore.

Is it Brainy's?? I'd forgotten about that. I just remember the ring.
Yeah, it is Brainy's. There's a two-part storyline in the original series where Brainy, Ultra Boy and Chameleon Boy go back in time to track Booster down. Once they see he's a force for good, they allow him to keep the items he stole (also because they think he has a role to play in how history unfolds and they don't want to disrupt that).
