Books that are prequel or sequels to episodes

It's been a long time since I've read Distand Shores. But I definitely liked it, too. Wasn't there a story that included a talent contest aboard Voyager?

Yep.
It is a sort of prequel to Coda where Janeway mentions the contest.
It was just a talent night, not a contest.
I'm actually working on Distant Shores on and off right now. I've been reading alongside a series rewatch, but I'm taking a break between seasons, so I'm not reading it at the moment.

I really like "The Secret Heart of Zolaluz" from Distant Shores.

My favourite one is seeing the doctor's point of view from the episode Blink of an Eye. What did he do for 3 years? Who was his "flat mate"? What was the war? And, biggest question of all, how did he have a son?
That was "Eighteen Minutes" by Terri Osborne.

My own story in Distant Shores, "Letting Go," is a bridging between "Emissary" and "Hunters," showing the progression of Mark Johnson from boyfriend-watching-Janeway's-dog to guy-who-finally-gave-up-and-married-someone-else.

:nyah:
As we say in Hebrew: אין הנחתום מעיד על עיסתו

If you are a Voyager fan then "Distant Shores" is a great book. A MUST read in my opinion.
It is a collection of shorts stories that give background and/or follow-on to episodes.

It is mentioned by someone in this thread: https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/equinox-crew.140951/page-3#post-12051902

Definitely worth the read.
That’s one of the voyager novels I haven’t read yet, I’ll have to pick it up.
