Remember this blast from the recent past? The most interesting comment in the article.. That the project was declassified because the technology was standard in the industry.

Nothing really new in the article. Everything mentioned there was released when the aircraft was declassified in 2002, although I don't remember Alan Weichman being mentioned before. I got to be at the rollout ceremony for this in St. Louis, and I've worked for Weichman before. Still a cool plane!

(Bugs me that gizmodo initially called it a Lockheed plane in the article, even though they corrected it.)

I always liked the F-4 Phantom. I have heard it called a kludge, but it still looks cool to me. Also the underbelly of F-35 smacks of the NX-01 to me somehow--coloration in the plates and all.
